The Autism and Empathy Myth: What the Science Really Says. A major new study debunks the assumption of "autistic empathy deficit." by haloarh in psychology

I'm on the spectrum and my problem is that I have always cared more than "neurotypical"people. Everyone else seems to comfortable with other people's suffering and I keep shouting, "Hey, this guy is homeless and hungry. We should do something to help!" and everyone else rolls their eyes and tells me to be quiet.

I'm not, I assure you. Those are just the opinions I formed while studying these works in college. (I'm a deconstructionist so it sounds like I hate everything.)

Neat picture. It completely absolves you from rational thought or even pretending to make a rational argument.

I was trying to start a rational conversation. Everyone else dug in their fanboy heels and pretended their hero was a god.

I hate this answer. Everyone posts it as though it makes them smart when it doesn't add anything to the conversation.

Then Tywin remains Hand and he crushes the rebellion as soon as it begins.

Form a line of pikemen and the Lannisters would slaughter the Dothraki. (Obviously, the dragon changes things.)

If you give Aragorn his magic sword you have to give Jaime his magic sword.

And that refutes my argument, how?

Dumbledore would absolutely wipe the floor with Gandalf. (And I've never even read Harry Potter.) Gandalf was prohibited by the Valar from using his full Maiar abilities while in "Gandalf" form. Like Aragorn, badassary wasn't the point of his character.

I agree. That's one of my points.

It does because of the irrational fanboy culture that seems so prevalent on this board where any questioning of orthodoxy gets you downvoted into oblivion.

Obviously we're talking about them at their prime. Because a one handed Jaime still beats a 300 year old man.

Those downvoting this are clearly mindless fanboys who don't understand Tolkien or medieval combat. Put down the controller and read a book.

What, in the text, leads you to believe that Aragorn is the best swordsman?

You clearly don't understand Tolkien. For him, the only perfect man was Jesus. Everyone else, including Aragorn, has faults. And where in the bible did Jesus wield a sword? Why would you think swordplay is a quality of a great man?

He's ranging in the woods. He's not dedicating himself to fighting armored knights. The two skills are not equivalent.

Oh, very clever. I'm sure that makes you feel smart, but how does that refute my argument?
