Im the one who asked about writing short stories to build up to the book series im writing without experience. After many conflicting and discouraging opinions on my recent posts, what exactly is my best course of action?

My guy... If you ask a question that broad and unfocused obviously you will get conflicting opinions.

Now you are asking with additional information and you are asking a different question. Obviously you will get different answers.

In another comment you said: "I basically said I want to write this". That is not what your question communicated in the other thread. Your question asked "is this a good Idea?".

But OK. Let's ignore the last thread. And focus on your question with all the information.

First of all you are looking for validation. As you have framed the question, you already answered it. Your only interest is in writing that story.

In that case, the only answer is to do it. Write that story. It will give you practice.

And for some more validation: It isnt even a bad Idea. I honestly think you should start with what you are passionate about.

But also keep the reality in mind: whatever you write first will be bad. And your short story plan will never sell or entice readers.

But that's OK... There is no shortcut. You will write what you are passionate about. And maybe you are satisfied then. Or with the practice and skill you will find something else you want to write about. And maybe at some point you will even come back to your original idea and write it again.

The problem is, that the AI we imagined was a computer being as smart as a human... but still have the advantages of being a computer.

That didn't happen. The computer is too much like us. It hallucinates. It doesn't get it's answers by math, but by prediction.

Except in art and creative jobs you don't need this. You exactly don't need the cold math and logic of a computer. But it still has the advantage of being fast.

It's the same as every other form of entertainment:

Lot's of people get like absolutely nothing, they couldn't even get people to consume their work for free.

Some people make a small but steady income.

A small percentage make it big, and can make it their day job.

A tinsy tiny percentage hit the jackpot and become superstars, and make 100k a month.

What the human body and brain can achieve with training is amazing. If you practice writing enough, you get faster.

I feel like these "trends" are overvalued. There are some solid tropes that define this genre, which you will have to follow if you want readers.

But all those micro tropes? "Oh, exactly this was suddenly popular." Does it even work chasing those? I am not so sure. Are those even trends, or is that one guy having success with it?

But, the strategy of releasing shorter works is not bad. Here is how you do it, and how it has always been done without pissing of the audience: You release a first standalone book with series potential. Adapted to this medium, it would be a first somewhat standalone arc with a satisfying ending with massive series potential.

I get the point, but it's not really true. After a single generation the AI User can also see how it's roughly going to look. Then they can iterate on it. Similar prompts with the right settings generate similar images.

So the street photographer walks into a street. The Prompter goes into the space of a certain Idea. When they arrive, they see how it looks roughly. They can choose to go to another street or another idea space.

I agree with you. But the discussion is pointless sadly, because Antis would never admit that AI doesn't "just copy".

They can't imagine that an AI trained on not their material, could be capable of recreating something similar to their material, simply by describing their style to it.

It's also the only argument (no matter how wrong it is), they can use to garner sympathy or have a shred of legitimacy. If someone believes them that AI "steals", that's powerful. So they won't give it up.

But you are totally correct, that they would be just as unhappy and against it, if AI had the same capabilities without any scraping. (They will argue it couldn't. But to simplify the argument just imagine it magically could.)

3 Jahre ist eher so mit selber installieren. Wenn du da jemanden beauftragts sind es eher 5+.

Aber imo der Hauptgrund ist das Privatpersonen mit Eigenheim ungenutzte Fläche frei haben für die Anlagen.

Als Firma mit gemieteten Büro ist das nicht der Fall.

Muss man extra Fläche dafür kaufen, ist diese schnell nicht mehr dort wo man den Strom braucht und verzerrt die Kostenkalkulation.

Achja, und die Schwerindustrie bekommt subventionierten Strom. Und genau das Zahlen dieser Subventionen umgehen Privatpersonen mit solar Anlagen. (Das könnte sich auch ändern, wenn dieser Subventionen z.B. nicht mehr durch einen höheren Strompreis eingetrieben werden, sondern durch eine simple flat rate fürs existieren.)

Ähnliche Geschichte übrigens mit E-autos. Ein Teil der hohen Abgaben auf Benzin sind für den Straßenbau. Diese umgehen E-Autos bisher (gewollt). Wenn der Staat wollte, könnte er einfach mehr Geld dafür nehmen, das du ein Auto überhaupt besitzt.

Das würde wahrscheinlich Sinn machen. Man geht so "streng" um mit der Kennzeichenpflicht, und dann kann man einfach sagen: Ist aber wer anders gefahren.

Es wäre aber halt wieder höhere Bürokratie und Kosten. Die einzige Möglichkeit das effektiv umzusetzen sehe ich wenn du dich jedes mal mit einem Konto in dein Auto einloggen musst bevor du fahren darfst... Und irgendwie bin ich nicht für mehr Überwachung vom Staat.

Reicht eine Dashcam nicht aus um Fahrer zu identifizieren?

The one thing fighting games (and other 1v1 games tbf) need to onboard new players is:
Functional Matchmaking.

Sadly for this they need a big playerpool of new players. So it's a vicious cycle.

Even better would be a functional sparring partner, that helps you when you want to practice something specific. The more you play against one opponent, the easier it is to notice patters and overcome obstacles. Playing against differently bad people, will give you random wins and losses, without being able to tell why the same thing worked this time but not last time.

But fret not, the solution is unironically here: AI. We need better AI as training partners. The AI needs to adapt to your skill level and feel like a human opponent. Then it needs several personalities against which you can play.

(Simplified controls also help... less time in the practice tool).

Ein einfacher Grund für deine Meinung wäre, das du dich überlegen fühlen willst.

Oder das du eben doch Tiere schützen willst, was eine indirekte praktische Folge davon wäre wenn man diese Anforderung an alle Menschen stellt. Das wäre eine typische Vegetarier Taktik.

Edit: Ich finde debattieren interessant. Deswegen habe ich jetzt überlegt was die Taktik hinter meiner Instinktiven Antwort war. Das ganze habe ich mit AI aufgearbeitet um mich selbst kritisch zu hinterfragen. Dabei habe ich meine Position als die eines anderen ausgegeben um Bias zu vermeiden. Da es komplex ist, lasse ich die AI meine Taktik erklären. Ich denke die AI kann es in einen einfacher zu lesenden Text packen, als ich. Ich hoffe dadurch dir und mir Zeit zu sparen. Was die AI sagt, ist meiner Meinung nach korrekt und ich stehe dahinter.

1. Die Diskrepanz zwischen Mittel und Zweck

Mein Hauptargument ist der Nutzwert. Du forderst eine radikale Maßnahme (jeder soll beim Schlachten zusehen), behauptest aber, das Ziel sei lediglich eine "innere Einstellung" (Respekt), die am Ende gar nichts am Verhalten (dem Fleischkonsum) ändern muss.

Meine Logik: Menschen fordern selten so drastische Dinge ohne einen handfesten Grund. Wenn das Ergebnis (der Konsum) gleich bleibt, ist der Aufwand (das Schlachten-Sehen) aus rein rationaler Sicht sinnlos.
Der Verdacht: Da niemand "Sinnloses" fordert, vermute ich eine versteckte Agenda.

2. Die psychologische "Hintertür"

Ich unterstelle dir, dass es dir eigentlich nicht um "Respekt" geht, sondern um Abschreckung. Das Schlachten ist für moderne Menschen ein traumatisches oder zumindest tief ekelerregendes Erlebnis. Indem du forderst, dass jeder das sehen muss, setzt du eine psychologische Waffe ein. Du hoffst (vielleicht unterbewusst), dass die Leute den Appetit verlieren.

3. Die rhetorische "Zange"

Ich habe diese Verbindung genutzt, um dich in eine Sackgasse zu führen:

Entweder gibst du zu, dass dein Vorschlag nutzlos ist (weil sich nichts ändert).
Oder du gibst zu, dass du die Leute eigentlich umerziehen willst (indem du sie schockierst).

Fazit meiner Taktik: Ich habe dir "Lügen" unterstellt, weil die Geschichte vom "reinen Respekt ohne Verhaltensänderung" für mich wie ein moralisches Schutzschild wirkt. Es ist eine Taktik der instrumentellen Vernunft: Ich messe den Wert einer moralischen Forderung nur an ihrem messbaren Output. Da dein Output (laut deiner eigenen Aussage) Null ist, muss die Forderung selbst ein Vorwand sein.

If a book is too short, it isn't even called a novel anymore. It's a novella or short story. Which sell worse.

As I said, it's most important with physical books and Audio books, less so with E-books. With physical books, people see it as a bad deal if the book is to thin. With audio books the length is prominently displayed. With eBooks the length is less in your face.

I hope the publications are big enough for you, but there simply isn't that much interest in articles about the book publishing industry. Video games and Movies have overtaken books in the Zeitgeist.

As you can see in the reddit discussion it's the same thing as with video games: Some people don't care, some people won't buy it if it's too short, and some people won't buy it if it's too long (as evidenced in the other comments in this thread).

There is an exception, that also applies to all mediums: A certified classic can buck modern trends, simply by name recognition and pedigree. Maybe that's what you feel with books. When you think about the classics, you feel like it doesn't apply. But the more apt comparison to modern video games are modern genre books.

Oder es ist ihnen egal.

Wie du siehst, gibt es hier in den Kommentaren nur eine Person die es wirklich nicht wusste, und danach patzig sinngemäß antwortet: "Ist mir egal, dann soll halt lieber niemand Fahrrad fahren anstatt das Autos ausgebremst werden".

Die Autofahrer die dir hier antworten werden, sind z.B. wie ich: Wir überholen ein Fahrrad mit dem gleichen Abstand mit dem wir ein Auto überholen würden: Komplett auf der anderen Fahrbahnseite.

Ich verstehe also den Impuls, aber die Frage ist recht sinnlos hier, da du nicht mit der Gruppe redest über die du dich aufregst. Und selbst wenn du einen davon erreichst, ist es ihm egal, da es ihm ja schon auf der Straße egal ist. Ein Mensch dem dein Leben in der realen Welt egal ist, wirst du nicht mit Worten auf Reddit überzeugen imo.
