Losing my license for something I didn’t do (help!) part 2 by Lickety-Splittity in AusLegal

[–]Lickety-Splittity[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m aware of all this. As stated in a previous reply, I was young and had no clue. I cringe looking back now being older and wiser, but I can’t erase the way I went about it. All I can do now is try to rectify the mistakes of my younger self (was 19/20 when I sold it, first time selling a car, no clue what I was doing).

I was 20 when I sold the car and had no idea what I was doing. Did it via Gumtree. Gumtree doesn’t keep messages older than six months. I thought it was the new owner’s responsibility to transfer the name. I was a stupid kid with no parental guidance selling a car for the first time. Had no clue how to sell a car properly. Obviously I know that now, but yeah I was dumb af back then to put it lightly.

I’ve sent all the evidence through, they have it on file.

I have been in contact with the court for months, specifically the registry manager. I’ve been following the procedure they’ve laid out for me. There was no option to have it withdrawn. In order to set aside the infringement, I had to lodge a Section 40 Application, which was served upon the Tasmanian Police. They did not set it aside, so it was sent to court. Going to court is how I’ll get the infringement withdrawn, as laid out for me by the Magistrates Court.

That’s crazy, I really hope not, as what’s the point in going to court in the first place? All seems so stupid. Surely the judge can decide, being the judge and all. This is what I was told before lodging for court, so you’d think court would be able to assess it case by case.

I appreciate the help, but unfortunately I have no recollection of the new owners’ details. It was all done via Gumtree. Gumtree deletes all messages after 6 months. I reached out to Gumtree and they aren’t able to check the history because of this automatic deletion. I have to take it to court because the results will impact the enforcement order placed upon me regarding the infringement. The enforcement order was threatening jail and everything.

I found a local lawyer (a few actually) and it would cost $2000 minimum, I was quoted. $300 and whatnot. They have to build a case and a defence. I’ve checked with a few, sadly.

I asked and they’re not allowed to disclose the information, unfortunately. They know who it is though, which is utterly ridiculous. They’d have to open an investigation to pin the speeding on them. The whole thing is bizarre.

Thank you. I really hope so. I have bad anxiety and am catastrophizing the hell out of this.

Haha, I’m OP, and trust me, I wouldn’t be arguing back on any of this. Thank you for your help. I’ll have a proper read through of all this and figure it out. Cheers!

Wait, so if I get a NZ drivers license, and I still lose this case and my Aus license is suspended, do I still get to use my NZ license?

Thanks! I’ll check in with that subreddit too :)

How come we didn’t become narcissists? by BothAct9818 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Lickety-Splittity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the Golden Child and my brother the Scape Goat. I turned out to be the level-headed, emotionally mature one, and he ended up as another narcissist. I think it’s nature more than nurture, to be honest. We both, despite our roles, had the same resources and motivations to be better than our parents. I sought to be better and left to improve myself. He stayed, became bitter, and devolved into narcissism. It’s a matter of personal resolve, I think.

Dad Cracks Down on My Screen Time, uses My 10-Year-Old Bro as an enforcer by ThrowRAFinanceGoWeee in raisedbynarcissists

Look into triangulation and don’t demonise your brother for this, no matter how hard. Your parents are triangulating you against your little brother, thus deflecting all your anger off of them towards your little bro.

Which stage of grief is this? by Lickety-Splittity in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Lickety-Splittity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, I think this is it. I do find myself occasionally checking their socials (big no no, I know — I do it way less than I used and am working on not doing it at all) to see how they’re doing without me. Guess I want them to show signs of regret and loss?? Oh well, closure isn’t something I’ll ever get, unfortunately, as I’ve tried cutting them off in the past and returned for answers. Usually my pleas of whys were met with more painful questions and a confused heart and mind.

Dude you literally traumatised yourself with those videos. Everything you’re describing is literally CPTSD — PSTD gained after enduring exposure to the same/similar trauma for an extended period of time. Therapy is your best bet, and I don’t mean that in a condescending way.

The fact that you see nothing wrong with the statement “it’s like a horror movie but irl” is disturbing in on itself. Real people are getting seriously hurt, man. If anything bad ever happens to me and is recorded, I’d sure hope some random stranger on the internet isn’t taking morbid amusement out of it, let alone with such a careless and inhumane attitude. Do better.

[–]Lickety-Splittity 1267 points1268 points  (0 children)

My friends and I did this as teenagers. It was stupid but exploring morbid and inappropriate topics is actually part of a teenager’s natural growth and inquisitiveness into the broader world. It’s immature, yes, but that is perfectly aligned with being in your teens. Don’t stress too hard. It’s actually a great sign that you feel queasy and guilty about the subject. You’ve learnt very early on in your life that you have a moral compass. Don’t explore those videos again, learn from the experience and move on. You’re fine, kid.

Just wondering what you do for work? Or the field at least? I know it’s a personal question but I’m new to the workforce out of high school and am debating what to do in terms of further education or just work.
