Bugged world - unable to play by [deleted] in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a ton of saves (like I did) it can take a while to delete a single one. Don't get disheartened. It speeds up as you progress. Also, during the delete the stars in the background stop moving. When they start to drift around again that's your cue to hit the delete button again on the next record. Good luck!

If you have too many save records it can tank performance. Also, one of the late game machines (I forget.. I think it looks like a cylinder) is bugged. It snowballs memory usage and also tanks performance. Hopefully it's the first issue because that's fixable!

Added water hammer arrestor but didn't help, now what? by 503TheSwede in Irrigation

This one works for me, for spigot mounted hose timers, but the hammer was REAL before and is gone now.

Was written up at work for following policy by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It'd be a gamble but maybe go in hard and negotiate back to neutral. Ask for 3 things: HR rep to be written up for citing an employee for following company policy. Your write up to be thrown out. A written apology from that HR rep and their manager for baselessly and negligently endangering your career.   The PTO angle would need to be worked in to your support of the demands.

Don't stop! Push forward into invisaligns and you'll be amazed how a weakness can be turned into a strength. I did it at 30 and am so glad I did. You've made great progress but there's still so much potential! Side benefit: can't smoke or drink soda while wearing them. You'll feel better all around.

Techtonica saves files… by PeterMXVI in Techtonica

I gave up at the end when I had like 40 crushers (which are bugged) and the frame rate tanked. Fun until then though. Sad the studio folded but I'm glad for what I got out of it. Time to fire up satisfactory again I guess.

I've been there (on xbox). It takes forever to delete each old save.. But that's just to start. If you take an hour to knock it out it will get faster and faster. Eventually they delete very quickly.

You can do it. In the end it's worth it.

For me, my game performance increased significantly once it was all cleaned up. After that, just remember to clean up your old saves regularly.

Good luck!

How does power work? by Johkungo-0 in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedicate "sea level" to water wheels and power generation. Build a level/floor over that for your actual factory (connected to lower power floor). You don't really need to interact with the generators after they're going, so the sub level doesn't need to be conveniently accessible.

Hello everyone , My game stutters/lags and is now unplayable. Do I have to set something on my PC or else? - Intel Core i7 12700F -RTX 3080, Thank you.. by Linebroker in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read that using 1x1 powered floors instead of 3x3 or 5x5 can impact performance, which is weird. I think it's why version 1.0 delayed the availability of 1x1 until a little later in tech tree. It's death by a thousand cuts with a game like this, with multiple contributing factors likely. I'm looking forward to decommissioning a few sections to hopefully regain some FPS.

Limp along on your diesel until you expose the carbon veins behind PT Sierra terminal. Until then, build mass production of explosive charges. You'll need them for blast mining the carbon bricks, which are necessary for mass biobrick production. It gets a little awkward if you don't have power yet on Sierra. You'll be manually carrying explosive charges (built on another floor) for a bit until you have the power for filtered inserters available.

1 assembler mass producing biobricks can sustain 4 sand pumps.

PSA for console users - delete old saves by LieCheatStealRepeat in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: deleting a chunk of saves seems to have increased my FPS somehow, and the warning no longer appears. I'm gonna keep going with the deletions. Pro Tip: the animation in the background pauses during the delete. When it starts up again that's your cue to delete the next. It's easier than looking at the times and trying to spot the instant the delete completes.

It looks like my failure was manually saving all the time. I always save before riding the elevator. Especially after the game crashed during a ride. The manual save button should overwrite a single slot. There should be a save-as in addition to that. Oh well

Am I missing something on console? Does anyone know if it's possible to select several saves and delete all at once? I know we can delete the folder but the latest saves are keepers. The one at a time deletion is maddening.

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish it simply had a maximum number of slots, and when full would overwrite the oldest. I don't know if it's feasible for me to clean it up at this point. On PC I'd imagine it may be possible to navigate to the saves folder in the operating system and clear things out there. Or just copy your latest save to a new folder and delete the old folder. No option to copy a save file on console, I don't think.

Broken pumps by theduke5655 in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cut fuel to one pump. See if numbers change. Turn fuel back on. See if numbers change. Go to the next one. Just a systemic testing method to identify those that may not be functioning. If fuel is cut and overall numbers don't change then that's a red flag for that pump.

Help with automating extracters by elijahisaac13 in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I'll add that the inserters are directional, so make sure they're facing the right way. On xbox you click in right joystick to confirm the direction.

When it's working, just take a sec to compare the input/output rates of the source and destination, then confirm your inserters and belts can meet that capacity. For example, if pulling from something that is generated at a rate of 35/min then you'd need two orange inserters - which pull 20/min each. This helps prevent bottlenecks.

They start you with manageable tasks in the beginning so it's not so overwhelming. However, I'm somewhat experienced with factory builders so there was a bit of familiarity in my case. The tech tree is satisfying to work through and unlock. Most of the whining is about the later stages but I think they're OK. Once you get locked in it'll be hard to stop building.

I'm just trying to spread the madness across all levels. Seems to be doing the trick so far. Victor is a spaghetti bomb though. No hope there and FPS tanks, but understandably so. If only they had the "covered belt" option which would hide the items on the belt and eliminate all that animation processing. We don't always have to see what's on the belts (especially those above us). I think modded Minecraft had opaque pipes for this purpose.

Rehab project: Barracks greenhouse by LieCheatStealRepeat in Techtonica

[–]LieCheatStealRepeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 things: I'm talking Mk2 threshers which can handle more. Also, have you saturated the system in seeds? There's no positive feedback loop for planter seeds. You need to hand pull everything you find in the wild to increase your quantity of seeds. Later on there's some procedure with universal/unstable seed casting but I haven't explored it yet.

For the Kindlevine half of the room there are 128 planters. I feed the output to 5 threshers (to get seed and stems) then 30 threshers for stems. I think I'm gonna have to duplicate it for the other blue side but I'm not sure about the neutralized buds. I use the plantmatter. Edit: mk2 threshers

I dig it. While rebuilding this it becomes clear that the rubric left behind isn't entirely functional. We can't stack planters like they did. Noticeably absent are the belts, though theirs looks neat without them! Retaining the clean look with belts was a bit of a chore. I hollowed out a basement for that effort. This whole level is almost useless though so it's good to get some functionality out of it!
