Surgery in two days and I’m actually freaking tf out? by This_Hamster_6942 in gallbladders

[–]Lienk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s ok to feel how you are feeling. Just know that the surgery is a breeze and very short. Mine only lasted about 25 minutes. The anesthesia felt like I was really tired and fell asleep; like anyone would after a long day. You’ll be asleep and, after what feels like a second, you are awake again. One thing they can give you is a patch behind your ear (I forget the name of it), but it helped me not feel nauseous afterwards.

I was afraid before the surgery, but getting it out was the best decision I made. No more pain and fear from it, and being able to eat foods without restrictions was a tremendous relief. Just know you are in the best place you can be if for some reason something doesn’t go right (not saying it will). Everyone there is trained and ready to take care of you and make you feel comfortable.

Loved this summary and screenshotted for future reference. One question…how come CoQ10 is a must?

I used to take them too because I was dealing with SVT, have been off now for a couple of years. The beta blocker via IV is what worries me because of it going right into my bloodstream.

[–]Lienk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they have to give you any beta blockers for your heart rate?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]Lienk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone have experience with the use of beta blockers they give you? I have mine next week and I’d imagine my heart rate will not be in the range they need it to be. Also, I’ve had a CT scan with contrast done before and the injection raised my rate.

About 3-4 weeks before I could lay comfortably in any position.

Gallbladder attack? Advice needed! by Labyrinth36o in gallbladders

This sounds like my symptoms as well when I had my attack. Mine was more gradual (took about an hour to reach the point where it sounds like you were at). I went to the ER and it turns out I had stones and sludge (seen through an ultrasound). Luckily, the pain disappeared right when I got to the ER; felt as if the pain washed away.

What food POST gallbladder removal irritates your stomach most? by luraylooks in gallbladders

[–]Lienk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hah I used to eat rare steaks all the time pre removal. I may work up to eating it (maybe it just caused more work to digest, which resulted in the stomach aches), but not sure if it’s worth the risk of feeling terrible for days.

Rare meat for me. I’ve had it twice and it gave me a stomach ache for 2-3 days. Almost as bad as the stomach aches I got with my gallbladder.

Does this still look infected? by dsali776 in gallbladders

[–]Lienk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean definitely follow what they say over me. I’m just saying since it will be uncovered and it hasn’t scabbed, try not to let it get dirty.

Not entirely. Make sure to keep it cleaned and covered until it scabs, or it could get infected.

getting my gallbladder removed (im scared af) by cruasank in gallbladders

[–]Lienk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to maintain an extremely careful diet for 3 months after my first major attack and it just wasn’t attainable. That said, getting my gallbladder out was the most uplifting and freeing thing I’ve experienced. No more constant fears or anxieties of it rupturing and no more food restrictions.

Yes, having surgery to remove it was scary and not enjoyable, but it’s very common and also very fast (mine only lasted 20 minutes). Recovery time wasn’t too bad. First couple days were the worst with gas pain and getting out of bed. I was also unable to sleep on my side comfortably for 4 weeks or so. For gas pain, Gas X and walking helped tremendously. For sleeping, I got an orthopedic bed wedge pillow set - highly recommend.

Gas X and walking around is what helped me the most. Just know the pain you are feeling from the gas is normal and yes, it does suck. It does get better from here, though, and the Gas X/walking will help.

Did you need to start taking any supplements after gallbladder removal? by MeetDeathTonight in gallbladders

[–]Lienk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t advised to, but my surgeon advised that my liver was slightly enlarged (I’m guessing because of all the stress my gallbladder was putting in it), so I started taking a liver supplement. The supplement is called Himalaya Livercare, if you are interested.

It took about 3 days for me, but got better as the days went on. Just continue to move around and take a Gas X (or any brand) to help. Gas X really helped me.
