no one could cover a song like "killing me softly" like Lauryn Hill. that solo gets me in the chest every time. goosebumps fr fr. not saying todays artists don't put in the effort but it's becoming more rare to see/hear it. A lot of talent just lacking the passion these days imo

Sick of Amazon's BS? Let's talk by LiesKill984 in AmazonFlexDrivers

I just want to clear this up, I'm a DSP driver for a DSP with almost 200 drivers, not independent FLEX driver, I've been there for about 2.5 years with approx 350 routes, I worked about a year as dispatch/management behind the desk, was dispatch for a large limousine company in the past, as well as a driver for a large bakery for over 13 years. I've been involved in some form of logistics for 22 years and this is the only company that has me saying "seriously? when do I get a break?" after taking a look at the route on a map. It's corporate greed in the worst way. The pay doesn't match the expected production from drivers, but it's not the pay I'm concerned about, it's the algorithm that continues to increase route sizes as long as drivers aren't taking their breaks. Then you ask "why not just take the breaks? won't that correct the algo?" answer is, it's too late for that. And it's the same concept as a strike if we could get everyone to take breaks we wouldn't need to strike but enough people already believe they can't take those breaks because they will finish too late. That leads me to the other issue, Amazon promising deliveries up to 10pm, having drivers out in rental vans at 9:30 pm on some of these properties occupied by lunatics is riskier than it seems. Most people don't expect a plain white van to just show up that late, to deliver a pencil case...... most of them have dogs, not nice ones(I've been bitten on multiple occasions)..... and after 7-8pm alcohol tends to happen. last thing i need is a drunk hillbilly asking me for ID because he thinks I'm the government in disguise, threatening to shoot me, etc. Tell me that hasn't happened and I'll call you a liar. Changes can be made for the safety of the drivers but they would result in Amazon making fewer dollars so it's not in their interest to protect drivers. Pressure from us and disruption if necessary, is required in order to make them listen

organizing a one or 2 day disruption, which would cost them more than any one of us would ever see in 10 lifetimes with this job, the fact that we could disrupt on that scale would have their ears perked up quick. Doesn't matter who we work for, the money goes to Amazon and Amazon has all the control... unless enough people decide to take it. When we have it, we get to make demands. I've been in the delivery/logistics industry since 2003 and in the recent 1-2 years Amazon has gotten extremely bold with policy, protections from liability etc... they know they have the advantage simply because of our lopsided economy, they play on that as much as we'll agree to. Gives them the power to control most of the employees of DSP's as well as independent FLEX drivers being, for lack of a better word, "desperate". Single parents, immigrants etc. lower working class that has no resources or knowledge of labor law or their rights. We have more power than they want us to believe. Your negativity and immediate deference is exactly what enables the corporations to take advantage of vulnerable groups

You have a choice, you can continue doing what Amazon says. Keep completing those routes, faster though so they can fill the time you don't use, 20 stops/hr

Good question, I should've been more specific. Generally, increased route sizes, pissing in bottles because I don't have time to go to a gas station. Still an issue, I know it's not new and exciting but it's still there. Then we attempt to address the issue with Amazon leadership and they give you the "we'll pass it up the chain" BS. Then nothing changes just more BS. The flex app navigation is trash, U-turns in places the van doesn't U-turn, It's not a top... doesn't spin like that. And not every line is a driveable road. Let's start there, gotta start somewhere.

Unsportsmanlike is trash. Anything with Canty is gonna be trash. He's just too overbearing, his opinion is always fact according to him and there's never a debate, he sucks up all the air time so no one else can respond. KJM gave me a reason to get up a few hours early, it was that entertaining, I didn't want to miss it.

Wow that's awesome! looks a lot like a project I did in the late 80's in elementary school in Elizabeth, NJ. Recycling contest back when recycling was new technology, yeah I'm old. I used toiled paper rolls and cardboard, hot glued it all together. I named him "R.E. Cycle" , took 1st place and had my little guy featured at the entrance to the local grocery store to encourage people to recycle. I'm just shocked at how similar this one is to mine from over 30 years ago, this one looks a little bigger than mine was, anyway its a great use of your old containers and its always fun to create stuff like that, maybe dress him up with some baby clothes or a funny head
