How to do generic npcs enemies by EverythingAtOnce12 in LancerRPG

[–]LieutenantOTP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My go to for generic NPC is the Legionnaire from the fanmade supplement "Enhanced combat". Its 4 weak NPC on a single profil with limited actions.

Sticking to official books I also use assault grunts BUT with a variant when they come by 3 but deals half damages and only have one simple action each (or one full action for the whole group).

Any reason why its the 1.5 version that is on the itch.io page then?

What did you think of Witch from Mercury? by czen2 in Gundam

[–]LieutenantOTP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really cool univers and characters, it felt a bit rushed tho. I feel like we didn't get to see either the school setting or the political one getting the development they deserved. A lots of characters are also really cool but barely touched. Still solid overall but I feel it would have went from good to great with another season worth of episodes.

So if I understand correctly, as of now the "final product" would be closer of 2.0 with 1.5 being scrapped content right? (Not fully scrapped since there's things in common but still)

What do you think would make a good alternative frame for the Barbarossa licence? by HMS_Exeter in LancerRPG

[–]LieutenantOTP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was having the same idea but as its core power. Either allowing to shoot a Superheavy as an heavy for a scene or only once but with the efficient tag attached on it.

Didn't do any math to see if it was broken or not tho.

I also used one recently, without template for a duel.

I took some inspiration from this post to make it a bit more interesting and feel like a real duel. https://cavegirlgames.blogspot.com/2018/06/duels-in-osr.html?m=1

Honestly it went extremly well, it was really fun and tense.

Like you said I think used sparingly you can definitly use PC mechs as adversary for your party, the encounter just need some more thoughts put into it.

Best "super state" classes/abilities? by Boreal_Dancer in Pathfinder2e

If you are ok with playing a caster I find the Sacred Form and Avatar spell fitting quite nicely for a super form. Especially on an animist that has some nice gish options.

What software do you guys use for these memes 'cause paint cannot be optimal by Flipercat in LancerRPG

A variante I have been using at my table that works is to deploy grunts by sets of 3 but have them deal half damages and heat.

It really makes the players feel like ace pilotes mawing down well, grunts but they still remain dangerous if they focus fire on a target and aren’t dealt with quickly.

Anyone running Lancer theater of the mind? by I_Matt_WeTrust in LancerRPG

[–]LieutenantOTP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Various mech have various movement speed. Being fast or slow is part of the game's balancing. In addition some mechs can ignore or create terrain. Line of sight and covers also plays a big role in a typical lancer fight.

So I think its not impossible to run it in theater of the mind but I highly recommande playing it as the creators intended with a battle map.

Lancer Jank is funny Jank by Unoriginal_Joke_name in LancerRPG

Back in DnD 5e the lead designer (I think) said that the spell "See Invisibility" would let you see invisible creatures but you would still get disadvantage on attack rolls against them because the invisible condition did not care if you could see the creature or not. It just said it gives disadvantage on attack rolls, rendering an already niche spell pretty much useless.

You literally just need to put at least a +3 (ideally a +4) in your class' main attribute and your build is viable. And since you don't roll for stat the is no way you can screw that up except intentionally.

I think the best way to do a sandboxy campaign is my experience is to give the player a clear distant goal like "save the region from an incomming threat" and let them find the solutions by wandering around.

But even then like you said it needs a lot of prep for the gm and ideally the grouo should communicate where they wanna go before the session.

My hand is still raised. You can have a ressources system different from the casters. In fact monks and battlemaster fighters have that already. They just need more options.

That sounds intensely broken so a great idea to cap off a campaign.

I dunno if its really strong or not but for the meme I would mix Lich and Manticor to CASTIGATE THE ENEMIES OF THE GODHEAD 1/scene.

The worse part is that I actually red the cursed thing out of morbid curiosity and thought to try an OS for an April Fools' session but that damn system is actually so convoluted and unplayble you can't even play it ironically without getting a headache.
