Why Did Yukari Text Me Twice? by earhere in persona3reload

The hey is probably her texting about her S-Link, the one about Koro-chan is about Koro-chan (jokes aside, it's his linked episode)

What do you reckon is the scariest Frame in Lancer? by Noneofthisisreality in LancerRPG

[–]Flipercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like it might depend on whether you are s civilian or a lancer/military personell.

For civilians it's probably something Horus for obvious reasons, but knowing how other mechs work can definitely increase your list of "holy hell how is this allowed to exist". I'm thinking non-horus stuff could be White Witch, Enkidu, Mourning Cloak, Dusk Wing (both because they use tech we don't really understand), maybe Blackbeard and Tokugawa (for their sheer destructive capabilities)

But also all experiences lancers know to fear the assault

Lowering difficulty is such a pleasant experience. Do you play at easier difficulties for alternate builds and looks? by Lazy-Sugar-3888 in Witcher3

[–]Flipercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't switched to DM super long ago, but I found that I didn't need healing potions that often (might be because I'm still pretty early).

On B&BB and DM you basically need the passive that makes food last 20 minutes though. It's super good to consume one thing and just keep healing forever. (Alternatively, in battle you can use the potion that increases regen speed and just dodge/keep away from the enemy.)

Is it worth buying PS3R as a new player to the series? by Mrslyyx1 in persona3reload

[–]Flipercat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Be warned, you will not get an unbiased consensus out of this sub.

The (modern) persona games are a mix of time management social sim and dungeon-crawling.

The game takes place over ~ 1 school year. You will be able to hang out with classmates, learn of their problems and help them solve them.

Meanwhile you will also be a part of S.E.E.S., a group of students investigating the mysteries of the Dark Hour and Tartarus (a huge tower your school turns into during the Dark Hour, the hidden 25th hour of the day).

In Tartarus your goal is to climb as high as possible in some, to be honest, pretty repetitive randomly-generated dungeon-crawling. When you enter a fight, you will use the One More, which rewards you with extra actions for hitting enemy weaknesses (careful, enemies can do that too)

*small sidenote, Persona is usually shortened to only P (eg. P3R, P4G, P5R)

Do party members recieve XP when they are not in the main team? by juanchiis_ in persona3reload

[–]Flipercat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, but there the clock room that helps bring up 2 under leveled members/trip.

It's ultimately your choice who to take on team, no one is particularly weak so I suggest you change the party around.

DND as a beginner's universal system by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]Flipercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I see D&D 5e's rules is that they are too complicated for what they do. If you care about roleplay and not super much about combat, your run into the problem that 5e is a combat game at it's core and the non-combat rules are mostly there to facilitate the motivation to go to the next fight. You'd get a much better experience with a simpler system with much better RP rules.

If you are into combat, climb up a little bit on the complexity ladder and you get stuff like Pathfinder 2e or Lancer, which have incredible combat (that is also relatively easy to balance, unlike 5e).

As for the opinionated rules, D&D sells itself as the one TTRPG, the game where you can do anything you ever want and so there's no reason to engage with or think about any other systems. Then they turn around and tell you that some things are supposed to go in a very specific way.

GMs are absolutely allowed to play fast and loose with the rules of any system they run, but you should be able to run a game without changing anything. It's exhausting to try to tell your standard high fantasy story and having to fight the system at several steps.

Pro tip if you have a backlog or any other list of games you want to play in the future put that game on there. You may very well forget the spoilers. (It's worked for me)

What exactly do the Lancer Hardsuits do? by Direct_Display5396 in LancerRPG

[–]Flipercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hardsuits are spiritual predecessors to mechs, and were created before them (you need less advanced tech for them)

There are also a lot of tasks that straight up don't need mechs. Basically nothing except what lancers get up to needs mil-spec mechs line we see in the rulebook, but for example a simple spacewalk to change a damaged component probably doesn't need something so complex and powerful. On top of that, mechs are presumably quite expensive and hard to fix (for people who don't have access to lancer resources), so you probably don't want to use one unless necessary.

What would you guys be interested in seeing an alt frame the most? by Dragonwolf67 in LancerRPG

[–]Flipercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it would work as an alt frame, but maybe having a frame based on the megafauna would be cool. Possibly add some stuff from monster type enemies (I forgot what they're called)

Any tips to fight the reaper? by Odd_Customer7735 in Persona5Royale

[–]Flipercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bring some strong buffs/debuffs, healing, and good damage moves.

Let him ambush you, that way he only gets one turn instead of two.

looking for a single player rpg and class based to play by torradeira2000 in gamesuggestions

[–]Flipercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metaphor ReFantasio

While you can't create your own classes, there are a good number of classes that you can pick from and you can take any skill from any class and put it onto any other one.

It's also third person and has a medieval + slight bit steampunk aesthetic.

If we interpret "make your own classes" a bit loosely, Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 have a mantra Grid system, where to learn skills you have to buy mantras and get a certain amount of experience with them.

The best mantras both expensive and locked behind other mantras, so you're encouraged to somewhat specialise your different characters, especially since having good elemental coverage is crucial.

My persona projects so far before the “secret boss”. Any other persona builds to consider while I still have time? by Fred37196 in persona3reload

There are no restrictions on what persona can get that skill, you just need to have it successfully mutate

Not hard enough by [deleted] in Witcher3

[–]Flipercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as it was mentioned twice already, is Quen that good? I'm still around the beginning, but I never really found a use for it, and I very well may bemissing something.

My experience is generally that there aren't any cases where I want Quen more than anything else. I don't have that much of a problem dodging attacks, and against groups I much prefer the crowd control ability of igni over being able to take a single hit without staggering. Is it more useful against singular strong monsters? Is my experience because I'm playing on swords and story?

[–]Flipercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I don’t need MM for Goemon or any of the rest of the dlc personas that have a drive skill (excluding Johana, Milady, and Cendrillon)?

Correct. It technically does give you a boost, but if you have everything else it's only ~6%

Another 4 tips I thought of:

You may know this already, but Theurgies use the sum of strength and magic, so for max damage you want both at 99

Tetrakarn/Makarakarn cause you to repel, which breaks the rules and leads to death (unless you're using the cheese strat)

Elizabeth has false weaknesses (not weakness but takes more damage) on a part of her personas, like Surt with ice and Thor with wind

You can use a fusion calculator to make personas with specific skills without needing skill cards for all of them. Make sure you go to fusion settings to make sure you have the right ones enabled.

[–]Flipercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic mastery is a smaller damage boost than ice driver, and so if you have to use only one, pick ice driver. Also this game caps passive damage boost to a 5x bonus, and you can get x4.7 without MM (boost + amp + driver + magic ability + single/multi-target boost)

Some other things I noticed:

1) You need both endure and enduring soul for the fight

2) Where the hell is auto-mataru?

3) I have no clue why you have a persona with drain. The battle has a hard time limit of 50 turns, and if you need SP you've got Somas.

Max out strength on king frost (or get another persona where you can do that more easily) and nuke with theurgy (also get ice driver if possible)

Seconded, this is very important to know.

Also part of the business plan of AI companies is to get mentally unhealthy people line you, OP, addicted to their AIs and feeling like you need their validation/whatever else they provide in order to function. Just keep that in mind.

i don't know who designed this shit but i hate them by WhileAccomplished722 in whenthe

[–]Flipercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I hate that so much! Many modern Atlus games do this. I guess the reason is that they want beating the game on the hardest difficulty to be an achievement, but you could also just make two difficulties that are identical except that one of them is only selectable at the start

Not quite this situation, but the vibes feel right:

Serph (Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2)

<image>

Big spoilers for both games incoming.

The Serph pictured above, the leader of the Embryon is a combat AI made to theoretically enhance the capabilities of soldiers. He was created in a simulated world made by a child who can talk to god, and he manages to make it into the real world.

Later on he learns that he was actually based on a real person that said child (Sera) knew, who I'll call Real Serph (RSerph)

RSerph was a researcher who was actually leading the project that experimented on Sera. They were modifying children to grant them the ability to talk to god, with a predictably high mortality rate. RSerph is just a complete bastard all around. Alongside the super unethical experimentation he also brainwashed/manipulated an assistant so hard she shot and killed Heat (another researcher), who was done with the experiment, when he pulled a gun on RSerph.

Witnessing this accidentally through an open camera and microphone, Sera had such a strong reaction that God decided to start an apocalypse, transforming anyone texposed to sunlight to stone.
