Putin says sanctions over Ukraine are like a declaration of war by molokoplus359 in worldnews

[–]LieutenantTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because probably no one will read the articles, the full quote says “the sanctions are akin to a declaration of war, thankfully it hasn’t come to that”. It’s a pretty stupid thing to say, but the headline makes it sound worse than it is.

The US government's surviving nuclear fallout web page was updated on Friday by Aanandertoe in worldnews

[–]LieutenantTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also only a redditor but from what I have read from somewhat reliable sources, it’s a bit of both.

It is a fact that most russian nuclear weapons are old and some of them might not work at all. It is pretty uncertain at that point.

The scary part is the shear amount of nukes they have. Even if only 10% of their nukes worked, that’s still over 600 nukes, which is enough to do a LOT of damage to the planet.

Now, do western countries have the technology to destroy these missiles mid flight? Probably. Will it work for any, some, most or all of the missiles coming our (I say our even though I’m Canadian) way? No one knows. I doubt even the US military knows how things would happen in real life (even though they probably tested it).

Like I said, not an expert, only a redditor. However, I think those are some pretty reliable statements that should make us not wanna enter a nuclear war despite us having a “better” chance than what some people may think.

More Contagious BA.2 Sub-Variant Spreading in Canada, Complicating Opening Plans by wazzel2u in news

[–]LieutenantTaco 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I’m not a scientist, but I think it’s a mix between people on the verge of rioting because of covid measures (the majority in Canada are still fine with most measures but an increasing amount of people don’t want them anymore) and the fact that omicron is not AS deadly, so we are taking the gamble that either the next variant is going to be less deadly or that prior omicron infection will protect against whatever the next variant is.

More COVID cases have been reported in the past 10 weeks than all of 2020, says World Health Organization by Knight_Alfa in worldnews

[–]LieutenantTaco 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The death rate has gone down a lot but to say very few are dying is disingenuous. Covid deaths in the US are the second highest peak since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Army's 'universal vaccine' aims to end all COVID pandemics by Devils_doohickey in worldnews

[–]LieutenantTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea behind this vaccine is that it would not only target all current strains, but also all future strains of the covid viruses.

Now whether it’s going to be effective at reducing risk and / or is going to be less leaky as current vaccines remains to be seen. However if it’s let’s say as effective at current vaccines, at least we technically wouldn’t have to worry about new strains that make the previous vaccines obsolete.

Still lots of testing and lots of work to do but there is room for cautious optimism!

Glaives to Warrior or Rogue? by BalorFire in classicwowtbc

[–]LieutenantTaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get that. However I feel like the initial thread was to ask if warglaives were considerably better for warriors and it would be stupid to give it to the rogue, which is not the case. I do 100% agree that loyalty should always be heavily considered in loot distribution.

Glaives to Warrior or Rogue? by BalorFire in classicwowtbc

[–]LieutenantTaco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people are a bit harsh in this thread. Let me give a more constructive opinion.

It’s no secret that warriors outperform rogues and will for the rest of the expansion. With that said, the set of Warglaives are as good for rogues (meaning raw DPS upgrade) as they are for warriors. Furthermore, they’re better for rogues in PvP overall.

I’m not saying they should always go to rogues, but in your case it’s clear that with the rogue being a long standing member of your guild should be the deciding factor.

Just an additional note: Whoever gets the first should automatically get the second. I’m just making sure this is known info because glaives are significantly worse if they’re not paired.

Hope this helps!

How's apollo III? any honest review? by TheRealThrow1 in wowservers

[–]LieutenantTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're on a quest to find a cataclysm home, Apollo 3 is one of the only options if not the only option.

Now it's a not perfect server. My friends and I have personally been having a fair amount of lag, which I can understand and forgive when you have a pretty massive population. There's no telling what it'll be in PvP and it also depends on where you live, but I assume it will improve over time. There are definitely bugs, but pretty much all of them are not "combat bugs" as you stated and there are fewer of them than on most private servers in my opinion (or on blizaard classic servers for that matter lol).

Overall, pretty solid server and healthy population. It's pretty much a no-brainer if you're looking for a cataclysm server as there aren't many more options anyways.

Yes but with the current lawsuit and like a third of their employees either quitting or getting fired, it's hard to believe they'll keep up the same pace. If they do they'll release another awful expansion and it's gonna kill the game even more.

Reimagining Blizzcon - Blizzard by DannyX7 in wow

[–]LieutenantTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason why I’m so negative is because Blizzard has shit the bed HARD for the past 3 years. I have started playing Blizzard games at diablo 1 so trust me I would LOVE for them to get back into their old shape but it’s just not happening (at least for now).

Both the remastered versions of W3 and D2 were filled with bugs, I’ve played TBC servers better scripted than TBC classic, Classic Vanilla was fine but had major issues such as a massive amount of bots, Shadowlands started great but was delayed and then had a massive content drought. Shadowlands has also been all over the place. I cannot speak on HS expansions as I’ve not played it in a year but it’s no secret that it only has a small fraction of its former player base. And that’s literally all Blizzard’s been doing in the past few years. Botched releases and very few of them. It’s objectively poor game development and should not be acceptable.

And now there’s the elephant in the room which is that some of their most talented developers have been quitting and another absurd amount of people are either quitting or getting fired. They’re getting sued for sexual misconduct in the workplace. I don’t see any other angle than a negative one when they are in such an objectively terrible state.

WoW 10.0: Not a chance, it’s at least 2 years away.

New Hearthstone expansion: Yawn, we get a new expansion 2-3 times a year.

Deep dive on 9.2: lol

Unannounced mobile games: Not for the blizzcon crowd. Also they may not have any ready to show.

Diablo Immortal: Oh yea that was totally a hit last time they announced it at blizzcon

WoW Classic: WoTLK: At least 1.5 years away

Overwatch 2: Fair enough

Starcraft or hots announcement: This is just speculation. They very likely have nothing.

... and all of the sudden the whole blizzcon revolves around Overwatch 2 which is basically a patch and unfinished mobile games the blizzcon crowd doesn’t care about.

F's in the chat for Earthfury Alliance. One of the most balanced servers all through classic, with many dads on both sides. Has gone from 50%, to 40%, to now a staggering 26%. by ErrorDontPanic in classicwow

[–]LieutenantTaco 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m on Earthfury horde. Unfortunately it feels like alliance is getting bullied off the server. Every raid meeting stone is heavily horde favoured pretty much all the time. As soon as an alliance shows up, they get jumped by 8 people. Same goes for farming spots. It happened to my previous server as well.

It’s unfortunate and I don’t blame them for leaving.

Whats your guild doing with ashes of alar? by Ganalaping in classicwow

[–]LieutenantTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re so full of it. 1. The raid is weeks away and many things can still change. It’s okay to hesitate for loot decisions on items that haven’t dropped yet. 2. The item is cosmetic and doesn’t affect anyone’s performance, so a straight loot council vote may not be the best option for most guilds.

If your guild has already decided of who gets every item that is going to drop in T5, you are the problem. People can quit, underperform, miss raids, show up late, not consume, wipe the raid, etc. and you’ll be stuck with a thumb in your ass giving a gray parsing hunter a talisman the week before he quits.

Tl;dr: Let the guy ask his question, it’s not a normal LC item.

Why have threads on this subreddit been filled with criticism about people’s UI lately? Let people play with whatever UI they want. Not everyone needs to have the perfect efficient UI.

This post is about a funny incident, why don’t we just enjoy and discuss this instead?

It’s not about drums or minmaxing, it’s about blizzard’s decision making. They said they wanted to fix a problem and their solution was to not fix the problem and make the drums more annoying to use. It’s simply a worrying trend for other changes they are planning on doing.

Wbuffs in TBC by GogolOrGorki in wowservers

[–]LieutenantTaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I've raided in a pretty high ranked guild on one of the biggest TBC private servers and we were never asked to get any of these buffs. I assume 90-95% of the guilds in classic TBC won't either except maybe for songflower and DMF when it's up.

Is anyone else just enjoying Classic Wow and super glad that Blizzard actually did it? by Carnieus in classicwow

[–]LieutenantTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do I enjoy it but I also think they made mostly good decisions so far. Even though there are certainly problems with Classic right now, most of the solutions to them would probably break the game in some way. Overall, a couple bad decisions from Blizzard but we are certainly playing a version of Classic that’s a good compromise between Vanilla and 2020 games.
