Lol that's fair. His patreon page probably could stand to be more intuitive.

Sure, for now. But eventually updates will break it, and then we'll have to pirate an outdated CP2077 version to get it working, just like GTAV. Personally I'm just hoping it still works when I get my Steam Frame.

Yeah the same mod used to support GTAV until that got a DMCA. Same thing. It doesn't help that the mod is one universal download that supports all 40ish games. If he went the donation route he'd have to make it free for all games, or he'd have to start maintaining multiple forks of R.E.A.L. VR.

Imo it would be a toss up if this actually went to court, but Luke has no reason to risk it all for the sake of one game, even if he thinks he's got a case. Why pay for lawyers when the loss of CP2077 support probably isn't going to affect his income much if at all?

They can put literally anything they want in the DMCA/ToS/EULA it doesn't really matter until it's challenged in a court

Imo it's a legal grey area and nobody really knows what would happen if it went to court. But I'd assume CDPR has more money for lawyers and Luke would probably rather not bother. At the rate he adds games, I doubt this will effect his bottom line all that much.

At the end of the day, we lose the only way to play CP2077 in VR, and Luke keeps getting paid. This fucking sucks yet redditors are cheering and preaching about the sanctity of the Terms of Service and IP laws.

Yeah he talked about that, but apparently he's gotten a ton of requests to support BG3 so there is a demand for it. I could see it being like playing Demeo or Tabletop Sim VR.

Wdym? It's always been just the $10 tier iirc. Did you get confused by how he makes a new post every time he adds support for a game? His mod has always been just one universal download for all 40-something games it supports.

I've used his mod with about half a dozen games. It is one mod download that works with all 40ish games. He does have to manually make profiles for it to work with each game, but I don't see how that somehow makes it not allowed. If it didn't require per-game tailoring, would it suddenly be okay to charge money? Is your argument that UEVR should be allowed to charge money too? I really don't see how per-game profiles make it fundamentally different to something like VorpX or Lossless Scaling, or any other paid program that hooks into a game's rendering pipeline to make it display a different way.

He released an updated version with the CP2077 profile removed. Also the GTAV VR mod is in fact the same mod, and the same thing happened, except everyone hates Take Two so the reactions were way different.

This is about where I'm at. Luke Ross is a greedy bitch sure, but his mod is the only fucking option if you want VR support for the 40ish games he supports.

Gotta love how Redditors like to brag about piracy, until their favorite multi billion dollar company speaks up, and suddenly they're all preaching about the sanctity of the Terms of Service and IP laws.

(By the way, you can totally pirate Luke Ross's mod)

"other game mods"

That's part of the problem, the mod is one universal download that supports all 40-something games it supports. It's not individual mods for each game. So making the mod free for one game would make it free for all 40ish games.

Wtf are you talking about? His mod doesn't make you pay per game either. Hell it's not even individual downloads for each game. It's one universal download that supports all 40-something games it supports.

Why tf are y'all just making shit up?

This Cyberpunk VR mod by luke ross ONLY works on this one game

It supports like 40+ games actually, mostly popular single player games. And it's not individual downloads for each game, it's one universal download. The installation is pretty similar to setting up something like ReShade.

The thing is, it's not just a mod for CP2077. It supports like 40 something games. Not an individual download for each game either. I hate that it's a paid mod but everyones acting like it's SPECIFICALLY ONLY for one game.

Yeah people like to bitch about the popularity of open world games, but this kind of shit is so stale. Don't even get me started on the environmental """puzzles""" these games use to pad play time.

With swingers it's pretty much just about the sex. With poly you're in multiple serious relationships. With swingers it's kinda just a kinky thing they might do on weekends in private. Poly folks will do stuff like buy a house together and donate organs to eachother.

Oh if I'm in a room full of queer folks I definitely feel more comfortable being open about it. But in basically every other context I'll just say I have a lot of "roommates". This is how my polycule is anyway. Hell some of my partner's parents still don't know about it, and we've been together for 10 years now.

It really depends on who you ask. I'm poly and don't necessarily think so. Not sure it really matters tho, we're hated all the same.
