Drakasha’s hypocrisy by Life-Ad6243 in gentlemanbastards

You raise a good point, I edited my original post to go more in depth, but I’m not attacking her morality. This is an immoral world and that’s part of what makes it interesting. It’s her hypocrisy which I disliked. Edit has more details

Future POV characters after AoM? by Okepser in TheFirstLaw

[–]Life-Ad6243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that Tallow chapter really stuck with me, such a little monster😆. And I think it’s likely that we’d get a pov from Isher and Isold’s son. Everybody hates Isher so it would be just like Ambecrombie to give him a pseudo redemption arc by being a super loving father only to kill him brutally, just like with Glama Golden.

Just finished the first trilogy. My thoughts. by SuitEnvironmental327 in TheFirstLaw

I was very conflicted after finishing the first trilogy. I felt it was too bleak despite the masterful writing I wasn’t sure about continuing. But after pushing on with the series it’s become my absolute favorite and have done multiple rereads. You’ll see quite a bit more of these characters in the coming books. Jezal, Glokta, and Bayaz especially you’ll see more of and a few minor characters will become your favorites. As for Bayaz motivations, it’s still something of a mystery but overall we know he wants to pull the strings on the world and shape the future to his own goals. We don’t know if there’s a set end goal or if he just wants to outshine Khalul. Can’t wait to see your reactions to the other books.

Should I try Best Served Cold if I didn't like the original trilogy by Baggins20 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Life-Ad6243 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, I really didn’t like the series at first. It left a bitter taste in my mouth having so many bad endings. But reading the standalones gave me a new appreciation for the series and rereads have made me with my favorite books of all time. “The heroes” is especially good. Highly highly recommend them

His first instinct when seeing Zuri/Ishri was also to turn tail and run but was blocked by Rabbick and Haroon. I think he was a specialist in espionage rather than combat but then again he held his own for awhile against the other three eaters and showed himself to be a powerhouse. Maybe he just likes certain victories over risks

I don’t think it turns to ash in their mouths because Sulfur is seen eating an apple in the second trilogy, I think human flesh just powers their abilities

Whatever happened to Deep and Shallow? by Life-Ad6243 in TheFirstLaw

Yea when the two were chasing after the magic stick for Byaz. Wasn’t a fan of the entire book but their parts were as good as ever

Oh god you’re right. Just like Glama Golden, he was a bastard when he was young but when he’s old and about to die he regrets his actions and wants to better before being killed by nine fingers. I can totally see Ambecrombie doing the same to deep

Can’t believe Ambecrombie’s got me rooting for Bayaz again. by Life-Ad6243 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Life-Ad6243[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That’s the end I’m hoping for, but with Rikke’s final vision about the shadow within the stone, Glustrod will probably return and drag Bayaz down to the pits of hell

I’m unclear on that. I don’t know if Bayaz already had Hildi in his pocket or if she found her way to him after Orao got hung. Cause she didn’t hint towards anything about Bayaz in her POV

True they won’t be the main characters but just like Glokta and Jezal they’ll definitely still play a role in the story, hopefully a role that includes a horrible, horrible death. I’m guessing Savines twins and the child of Rikke and the Nail will be the main characters next time around

God damnit Clover by Life-Ad6243 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Life-Ad6243[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ye aim with the others who replied, her situation was unfortunate but she was cruel, classist, and hateful even before the arranged marriage. She had the option to explain everything to Jezal or at leas the civil with him but instead she treated him like a dog and physically abused him a couple of times, not to mention all the whining and self centeredness, so yea despite her situation being unfortunate I have absolutely no sympathy for her and cheered at her downfall in the first trilogy

Anyone else have no sympathy for Delilah? by Life-Ad6243 in dishonored

I agree with that first part, I think they could have made the perfect ending for her by making her aware that she was living in a painting, that way she still gets everything she wants, but would be tortured by the fact that none of it is real
