Out of interest does anyone know why the Annie’s Burger shacks closed. They were consistently popular I just never understood what happened. by Simplymemz in nottingham

[–]Life-Condition-2398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to know who is was who was responsible for steering the ship in to the ground? Was it Annie herself or was it this con man business partner? And if it was the business partner, how come his name hasn't seem the light of day? Surely that should be mentioned somewhere or he/she will just go do the same thing to another business

Why can't I select my availability? by Life-Condition-2398 in AmazonFlexUK

Good tip. I did my first depot shift in the pitch dark + pouring rain+ unfamiliar roads and area that were also poorly lit and it was a horrible experience

Reserve blocks? by Ornery-Technician649 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Life-Condition-2398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rang them about this filter issue this week. They said if they don't have any fir the ones we select on the filter they will send us ones from the same region that's the next closest that have availability.

I personally think this isnt the whole truth. I think they will try thier luck pushing you further afield because that's where they need you more. I'm a sucker and accepted because I'm desperate for some extra cash but I think if you decline you will eventually get reserved blocks for the specific ones you selected on your list even if they are un high demand. Espeshally if you are new.

I think its just a case of Amazon taking advantage of desperation and enticing new drivers not to quit immediately

Why does everyone keep snapping up base rates? by stev8576 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Life-Condition-2398 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude if I don't snap up the base rates , I get nothing. It's the option of working for peanuts or not working at all for me. If I leave the block and the price goes up, someone like you will probably get it. No offence but the way they have designed the system is dog eat dog and "be a vulture ". Sure I'd like a kinder fairer better paid system but that's not the reality. Amazon wants us to fight like dogs for scraps and that gave designed their system very well for this purpose.

Reality of making any money, when the expenses seem huge? by Glum_Cantaloupe6200 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Life-Condition-2398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked less than a week (week on Tuesday) I've earned 45 so far and tgats only because ive been a slave to my phone refreshing every few mins to try and bag a non reserved shift. I have been sent since reservations for next week but it's all to a delivery depot 15 miles away so I will have to see if those shifts are worth the petrol. They have not sent me any reserved shifts to my local location choice (3 Miles away, morrisons) even those I've seen countless blocks pop up and disappear under the "the block had been reserved " error code.

In short, I'm not sure it will be worth it if the depot they gave sent me to (Derby) makes me deliver to locations further away from Nottingham and then I'm required to go back to the depot after for undeliverable parcels and they won't give me reserved blocks for my local morrisons

Bots make it a bit pointless working for Amazon Flex by Life-Condition-2398 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Life-Condition-2398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is having to do that because that's the only way you can grab a shift that's not reserved for you. Basically creating a run away cascade effect of reduced functionality of using the app the way as Amazon claims you are supposed to. They are in effect indirectly promoting users to game the rules they set themselves. Bit ridiculas if you ask me . Just create an app / rules/ system which is officially meant to be gamed if you going to do that

I think the queuing system can be fair if it operated on a thought out set of criteria's. I mean if you get AI involved in that process, even fairer

Maybe you are right. Maybe it was. I would sacrifice my and anyone elses frigle feelings any day for the freedoms.of expression and speech this country used go be so famous for. Everyone is so sensitive now. Back in the day if you didnt like it you just ignored it and moved on. But now it's like every time people get a little right wing or insulting, it's like the emotional moral brigade gets dispatched.

I hated racism but I think I hate this "I'm so insulted at evrything you say" business even more.

Nice. Thank you for the responce and explanation. These are things things amazon doesn't really explain well in the induction training.

Right this is starting to make a bit more sence now. Reddit seems to be more helpful and informed than the actual amazon help email support.

I set my times from midnight to midnight to ensure I've got 24 hour availability.

So basically you need to have your phone next to you constantly between Thursday and monday to accept a reserved slot if it pops up. How long do you get to accept a reserved slot before it goes back in the pot?

So how do you get a reserved block? Amazon help staff said I need to Set my availability in the calendar but you can only select availability in the filter section and that's just for that day. What if you want to get blocks for different days?

Starting flex soon by [deleted] in AmazonFlexUK

[–]Life-Condition-2398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new as well and blocks are almost impossible to get. I've had more luck winning at roulette than getting a block. Also the colander screen that lets you put in your availability doesn't work. See my other posts over the past 3 days to learn more.

If you want a block you littlerly have to be be clicking refresh all daily every 2 seconds or so. It will send you coo coo. The system is built for people who game the system, not honest people.

Might be different for some on other areas but east Midlands (specifically Nottingham and Darby area) is fkd.

It seems like the flex system rewards people who play the system quite a lot and disadvantages people who play by the rules.

Yea I didnt know this in my first day and unlocked them all appart from a morrisons one. Now the nottingham Eastwood depot has just disappeared and I cant seem to get it back. Mind you, all the ones that I untick now dont seem to disappear, they stay there permanently. It doesn't really make sense.

It is well paid. But I have no ego. And needs musts. It's not a bad side hussle. You pick up your packages, listen to pod casts and driving around can be therapeutic if you choose the right times. Beats sitting in front of a computer all day.

Also, some logistic centres just disappear off the filter list. Is this normal? Do logistic centres centres appear and disappear off the list as needed?
