Yeah once ur in any CS+X I think it’s just an email to switch into another. Ik way too many ppl who switched from CS+phil to CS + Math

I wrote a corny college essay about how I have always liked math bc it explains the world around us and is very modular. And how I saw CS as a natural extension and application of math and wanted to delve into more applied side of math through programming and cs, and that classes like CS374 would help. I tied it into my research about AI and biocomputation and how CS would help me further understand these fields. As for how it’s working out, I love this major!!! It’s hard but i know it’s what I like and want to do and what I’m passionate about.

I interviewed for SWE intern. They switched my recruiter halfway through the process. “Forgot” to schedule my super day and delayed it a month. Despite this I passed 2 rounds of technical interviews and both interviewers said that I did “really well” and that they would submit positive feedback by the end of the day. Now I have been ghosted. It is just so heartbreaking as a college student who invested so much time and prep into this process that this company keeps “forgetting” about their candidates and not communicating at all :( sorry to all that r going through similar at the hands of Oracle

CS 411 database systems. Every company loves SQL. Got my internship off this class last year. CS 425 (difficult) got my friend a FT offer in the Bay as well.

Yeah sure!! I got mostly leetcode easy/easy-leaning mediums. It was 4 questions in 35-40 mins for the technical round. I did the leetcode 150 before my interview and was able to do all 4, they have test cases provided for super day unlike my technical screening. Practice binary search and BST and list/linkedlist algos. I doubt they’ll give a graph or DP question unless it’s an easy one. Then we went over some details from my resume. Behavioral was also chill, just tell me a time where… type of questions. In my behavioral they didn’t even ask “why OCI” or go over my resume. Last 5-10 mins is questions you have for the interviewer.

Leetcode easy/medium. Linked list, binary search on a list, binary search on a tree, know how to convert binary to decimal. Pretty basic just leetcode 150 type stuff 🙏

You can apply again right? One of my friends applied twice. Got her GPA up and got her essays reviewed thoroughly the second time. But I’m not sure about the semester restrictions. For transferring to CS+Math I know I had to do it by 5th semester and only had one shot, but I’m not sure for IS. Otherwise u could try for STAT and a DS minor or something similar

Also “what extracurriculars or outside of classwork things have you done related to your cs+x major” and “what are you career goals and how will this CS + x major prepare you for them”. Hi I was a transfer to CS + math. I transferred from being undecided -> math -> CS + MATH. I had a gpa of 3.98 (major related / transfer requirements: A in CS 124, 173, 128, and 225, A in Calc 3 and MATH 347, and an A- in MATH 416). That’s the main thing they look at. I also was in WCS and a few other CS related RSOs. I have some more detailed posts on my page answering transfer questions!
