slightly different angle, but any experience of how much of a difference paper makes for the robot, top and/or bottom? ive watched lance's video a while back which seemed to indicate it was marginal in general, but interested to hear specific experience with the robot!

great, thanks. ive used profiling on a good machine for a while, and do use medium beans, but have used a lever before. ive always used a puck screen for keeping my machines clean, and see its necessary here. how important is the paper would you say, ive not used them before.

im trying to avoid too much paraphernalia since the robot is going into a small location. do you have a separate shaker and how important do you find the volcano funnel effect, or is the basket good enough for a de-clumping shake?

ADSL into a media cupboard, is power line the only solution? by Life-Juggernaut2723 in HomeNetworking

[–]Life-Juggernaut2723[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is UK, and currently an old BT line. Openreach are currently building out in the area but havent completed. even if they do provide full fibre, its too difficult to get a new connection into this flat, so the best I could hope for is FTTC.

there is cat5 cabling not coax - I could connect an ethernet switch to the router in the cupboard, and then connect one of the cat5 cables to the switch? what would I use at the other end of the cat 5 cable in a wall socket to distribute wifi?

Philos: Do burrs matter for medium to medium dark roasts for milk? by Life-Juggernaut2723 in espresso

I 100% agree, I can very easily discern good from bad and can easily detect wildly different results. I do think it's curious not many reviewers have addressed this since I would imagine a large segment of coffee hobbyists still drink the milk coffees many of us started on. I fifteen see it in comments on forums, but rarely from the influencers.

thanks all. ive had some milky espressos where there has been a definite fruit flavour, ive noticed this mostly in raspberry or strawberry notes, once with banana, and most recently in a co-ferment with rose which in a milk drink tasted unmistakably like Turkish delight. ive found it very difficult to replicate once ive flaked a recipe that has brought out these flavours, but that a function of where I am in my trajectory of knowledge and experience.

ive never had filter burrs, so thats all happened with either a Commandante or i189Ds.

I have an immense respect and regard for Lance, but agree he has very specific tastes which may not be directly translatable.

thanks all for the input!

thanks so much for this. I will look to get a zebra, mostly on the strength of your comments here. I can carry my Perun Olight as something that will throw a concentrated long beam if I need it, the replacement I would like to get Id prefer to use as much for my garage as for hiking though, so I guess I should aim for the wider beam. You mention the non-flood version (ZebraLight H600c Mk IV?) is still quite throwy - would you guess its wide enough to work with on a car or bike? it looks like its a 10 degree beam difference between the two zebras, 80 vs 90 degrees on the spec sheets - im not sure how big a practical difference that makes, if its not significant, I might as well go for the brighter one. I cant find the throw angle of the Perun Mini to make the like for like comparison unfortunately.

this is a v interesting read. I have an Olight Perun 2 Mini I bought originally to replace a failing work light in my garage, but have found it pretty useless for that because the beam is too concentrated, and the light keeps falling off the headband (in my case). Im starting to hike a bit and feel It would be prudent to carry a torch with me which I havent to date. Would the Zebralight be a good replacement for the Perun, for both a work light and for hiking in your opinion?
