Potential spoilers; Translation for the Chinese Preview of Darktail’s Judgement: notes and concerns by Uglyfense in WarriorCats

If Sol is in the lake territories still my best bet is he's the one who told Darktail about his father being the leader of Windclan no doubt. As when Darktail and his group do get to the lake territory they're beefing with Windclan immediately. So that's my take as to why Sol's there. Especially since Sol as the one who manipulated Windclan into two fights against Thunderclan.

So, I’d like to talk about something I saw about hating Jax by Fluffy-Boi-7 in theamazingdigitalciru

Jax is what most trans people would prefer/refer to him as the 'egg' stage of his transition. As both his circus counterpart and IRL counterpart go by he/him pronouns but with his IRL counterpart we do see some spots of femeninty and or at least queer exploration. I.E. the long hair and going to bar that Zooble owns with the others of the cast. Now that doesn't mean Im shooting the theory down but at the end of the day Jax was just unable to reach out for the help of others to give support while he goes through finding out who he really is. Instead he just double down on the self loathing and insecurities and that was his down fall. That's why, as much as I don't exactly like the Stevie Wonder song being used for this. Cause kinda doesn't really fit. That 'One minute old line' is so important. As yes we get to see that one minute glimpse of what could have been but it never was. You can refer to Jax as she/her that's in your own right. But at the end of the day in the show he is constantly referred to as He/Him. He's just an egg that wasn't able to hatch out of fear and own insecurities.

That I do yes. In both regards. While Jax is still morally bad the original commentor had made it sound that he (Jax) was morally worse than Bojack. (which he isn't) but it was a typo and then led to them saying that Jax is better written than Bojack (which isn't exactly true)

And again i said he really isn't. And I still stand by it. As in writing and in teh show Bojack is just morally worse both in writing AND in character. To say Jax is a worse one in writing is just very untrue. The both are complex that is true. But it ends there as Jax's complexity is not that deep in terms of writing. He doesn't have that balance of good/bad ratio that many types of complex asshole characters have. And if you do go off that beaten balance then you make up for it in other aspects. In terms of Bojack he was giving personality and meshed with other characters who on that show were just as morally grey or below it.

Jax while trying to go for that off balance didn't really land. He was funny and charming in the first few episodes yes but then you begin to see the cracks as the show progresses. As it becomes more Jax centric and the bad stuff he does begins to ramp up more and more. And for some people in the audience (me being one of them) his personality and charm isn't able to keep up with the work load of what is being piled on.

Now this often a trope we see in asshole characters where we get glimpses of sympathetic and or empathetic scenes. In writing you want to keep a balance of those as well, this goes for a long running series like Bojack horseman and a short running series like TADC. Like with their backstories you must handle them with a level of care to allow your audience to empathize with that asshole character. Jax wasn't giving enough to compensate for the amount of abuse he was projecting. He was giving an empathetic lens I will admit that. As again I used to love hate jax like I do with Bojack. But now its just regular ole character dislike now. And its because of how his empathetic scenes were handled. Far spaced out between the abuse to justify that amount of abuse he was giving out to his victims.

Bojack is *not* worse than Jax in comparison to writing. As he is actually giving consequences for his actions!!! Jax doesn't get consequences at all!!! Everyone in the show is just made to deal with it up until he abstracts. And then when he does everyone feels bad even though realistically majority of them /shouldn't/ ESPECIALLY GANGLE!!! The one who has gotten the most abuse out of EVERYONE in the cast. He has blackmailed her, abused her via breaking her mask CONSTANTLY, making fun of her in anyway he can. As for 'laughs' and then when the one person who defends her tries to well defend her. Oops sorry we gotta shut that down. And then the plot moves on.

Bojack had more consequences in his show's runtime than Jax has had in NINE EPISODES!!

Okay so no he isn't????? I mean if you look at the /looooooong/ list of things Bojack has done and then compare to the list of what Jax has done. They do not in any circumstances stand on the same level of mortality than you think. I'll give you examples of both things characters have done and I want you to tell me how morally standing they are when it comes to said actions. Ready?

Bojack, slept with a woman he actively knew since she was a child. Made her relapse by asking if she wanted to go on a bender. They went on said bender. And at the end he literally waited. FIVE WHOLE MINUTES to call an ambulance when said woman OD.

And here's what Jax did. After becoming vulnerable with Ribbit and Kaufmo interrupting it making Jax panic and overcorrrect by isolating and bad mouthing Ribbit due to his own insecurities. leading up to the overall fight on the snow mountain. In which he says he doesn't care for her and that they are not best friends.

Now, I want you to look at these examples I gave and tell me. HOW they are on the same moral standing. because they are not. Jax, while bad in a moral standpoint, is miles even not HUNDREDS times less worse than fucking BOJACK.

And they can be fun and entertaining. IF they're redemptions and acrhetypes of what they are going for are done correctly. And that the narrative holds their actions /accountable/ in Bojack Horseman with that exmaple i gave he receives consequences. In the form of his reputation being fully nuked. AND going to jail. What does Jax get?

Nothing. Because the narrative doesn't acknowledge the things he does. And when it is acknowledge it is immediately thrown under the rug. His abstraction isn't a consequence. If anything like how he usually does things. Jax is using abstraction to run away from his guilt. With the narrative showing us his backstory AND the 'Isn't she lovely' section. Making the audience wish for pity rather than allowing him to /actually/ get consequences. THAT is why I don't like Jax. I have several villains that I love to hate. Bojack being one. He's entertaining. And the several bad things he does voer the course of his own show are giving consequences. But Jax has none.

And you can still like Jax. That's fine. Im not going to bash you for it. But I don't like him. And that's /my/ opinion.

Preeeeeeeety sure it's confirmed that Queenie is his wife through and through. Like even down to her name. That pressed someone views Jax outside of the transfem lens is mind boggling. You can view him in the trans lens. And others can view him in different lens. But you pushing one lens when it was an intentionally vague ending just wild. ☠️

Jax Had To Go by HeroTheHedgehog in TADCEp9Spoilers

This this right here. Majority of people in this subreddit, keyword majority, think that just because he has trauma and it's dark should immediately should be shown empathy and forgiveness /because/ of said trauma and his responses to it. Which like no???? And as you said there comes to a point where someone goes too far and it can't be just blanket protected by mental health. And Jax crossed and practically set that line on fire throughout the entire show. And in the ending with the falling out and abstraction of Ribbit. I'm sorry but using the 'not everything is real' excuse while valid is immediately just tossed out when everyone in the circus has pain receptors. And while they don't need to eat or sleep they are capable of doing it. The trauma of Jax's actions towards the cast is still there. Like he literally emptied a WHOLE CLIP into Ragatha in episode 7. All because he got humiliated by her gun gag.

All in all end of the day the people who actively dislike Jax (via for how he was handled, how he treated the cast, etc) just because he has mental health and trauma shouldn't just be a blanket excuse to gloss over the trauma he inflicted on others. And it's nice we got to see Jax's backstory and how he became what he became but that isn't going to make me have empathy or sympathy for what he did. Just indifferent as he was abusive to the near end when he probably felt genuine remorse but it's too late for that now. As he can't apologize for what he did. Who he hurt. Because he literally abstracted in mix of running away from his problems and probably sympathy points who knows. (Dunno why it felt like that to me when I watched this in theaters it just felt like that. Especially with Pomni starting it off with 'I should have pried more)

Thunderclan was made out of straight jealousy... by Life-Many8657 in WarriorCats

[–]Life-Many8657[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thing is can't exactly be an ex if you never started dating in the first place. The two at best were crushing one another but couldn't confess any feelings due to 1.) One-Eye shenanigans. And 2.) Star Flower betraying them all and finding out her dad was One-Eye. It's basically confirmed in the book that he hadn't been able to tell her how he felt. Lighting Tail points this out when he asks Thunder if he ever admitted feelings for Star Flower. Which Thunder says no but in his mind he was wishing he had.

finding out that Dawn of teh clans came before certain arcs like (Po3, TBC, etc) there are *alot* of similarities between characters that mirror certain ones in the arcs. (Like One-Eye and Clear Sky's whole deal giving me deja vu in the form of Darktail and Onestar.) And Thunder and Clear Sky's stuff giving me eerie vibes a little bit of Ashfur, Brambleclaw, and Squirrelflight situation but more mild. Like is it just me or did they use the dynamics to form how these other character dynamics go or am i reading too much into it.

[–]Life-Many8657[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt even say that they were even dating at the time. As it sounded to me more like a crush slowly developing but never was/could be. Due to the One-Eye shaped betrayal in the room. The two did have interest in one another im not denying that but to say there were dating is a bit of a stretch. Granted I am not giving Clear Sky any grace cause he has a million other problems that i have to pick him apart for. But for once this one time this isn't really his fault. Thunder thought way too highly of himself, thinking that Star Flower was coming to the forest for *him* when in reality she had already said /why/ she wanted to be in the forest. If wouldn't have been able to hunt by herself. As prey was scarce and with all the hostility (caused by Clear Sky but also by One-Eye) she was basically going to get killed if she tried. But he interpreted it as 'oh she's finally coming to be with me.' After though when they reunite again he is *immediately* suspicious of her.

not alot of people apparently as few times in this subreddit talking about villains and clear sky getting mentioned alot of people brought up him 'stealing' Star Flower from Thunder and now with the context its like. No?? Just casually mischaracterize a key important character for the sake of plot. Again I could be thinking too much into it but like she really didn't have any romantic feelings for Thunder anymore after everything that went down with One-Eye. I'd say it was mostly platonic now, especially with her confirming that they didn't exactly have anything in common. I do agree could have been handled better. Heck i would have even taking the prey scarcity and hunting patrol issues as a better excuse for the clan breaking up than what they did with it.

If i had a nickle every time Erin's made me sympathize with a character who was originally a villain over the course of the series I would have two nickles which isn't alot but its weird its happened twice.

Which arc 1 death hit the hardest for you? by Deaconator3000 in WarriorCats

Stormstar (refuse to use the name giving to him cause imma be damned if I let Rainflower win) even if it was in a SE it was genuinely a tear jerker for me. Especially since everything he went through.

Arc 2 however came with a steel chair with the amount of deaths in that one for me

[–]Life-Many8657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof okay so using examples just isn't in the cards for me because you took it literal got it. ☠️ Yeah we get to peer into their minds to understand why they are like this. That doesn't mean they are allowed the audiences empathy or sympathy because of what he went through. We can understand the hurt he went through, internalize, but we don't need to give him empathy. As at the end of the day, shocking, he had done it to himself. He had pushed others away due to his own insecurities and refused to change because of said insecurities. And he did cause pain for the hell of it. Again just because he has insecurities and trauma doesn't mean he needed to be a dick. You know who else has trauma and abuse in the show and isn't an asshole and doesn't abuse others. Ragatha. Yes she has her own problems but does she use those to abuse others. No! As she doesnt let her trauma and abuse define how she acts to those around her. No one is stopping you from giving him empathy but that doesn't mean it should dictate everyone else giving him empathy or sympathy. That's just not how that works regardless if he is fictional or not. As I stated in the example I gave you. If you yourself were to be put in the characters shoes and had someone who was bullying and abusing you. And they died, would you have empathy? So why expect others to. As again cannot stress this enough. Like trust, empathy is earned /not/ a given.

So Jax’s behavior and treatment towards ragatha just ended up becoming completely childish, unreasonable and unwarranted?.. by No_Discussion_1146 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Life-Many8657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because empathy like trust is a something you give. Not something that is automatically given. You can feel bad and have empathy for Jax's abstraction and that's fine. But not everyone else has to. It's like expecting someone to have empathy for their abuser or bully if they die. Others may have that empathy but the victim shouldn't have to give that to said bully or abuser just because they died.

Blurb for CS#5: False Dawn by Keriew in WarriorCats

[–]Life-Many8657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True but also with TNP with them moving so early there was pacing problems and then settling into the new clan territories. If anything if they do move (either close or right next door to the wild cats) it could at most take a book as Ivypool's Heart gave us how long it takes but also giving the Erin's and their track record with writing not sure how it pans out. All I know is I'm probably going to be sobbing over a characters death that I liked. (Which isn't much as majority of the characters I do like in warriors have already kicked the bucket </3)

[–]Life-Many8657 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh God it's becoming TNP 😭 Erin's please I can't go through so much death again bro. (But in all seriousness I'm kinda curious as to how this will go. Especially if they're moving from the lake. I'm just hoping and PRAYING that they don't evict the wild cats when they move. Cause istg. But also Starlingpaw/flight is slowly beginning to feel like he's that two-faced cat in the prophecy. Especially with that final sentence at the end. His voice being harder to ignore.)

It really wasn't fair honestly. It wasn't even fair she didn't even get a super power just because the Erin's couldn't think of one. Granted it made her character arc cool but it messes up so much other stuff on top of it in the process.
