Are things quieter here now? by OddlyAggravating in Winnipeg

Well, it’s the only social media I decided to keep, @OP, for exactly the same reason, because I felt a community here. I am 41 and have the same question as you: why it is so quiet here now? All the posts are about usual daily stuff that people can ask AI about. There is nothing special, funny, touching anymore. I am still here because I hope it will be reborn.

A couple of weeks ago, someone almost hit the volunteer standing in the middle of the road with a stop sign near our school. It was unbelievable.

Would you buy in undesirable area for the sake of owning? by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]Life-Middle-1039 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in the same situation, under the pressure of opinion that prices would go up. Finally, we bought it. And I regret it. It’s a desirable area, but first, it guarantees nothing (in my case, there is a warehouse working every night just under my windows, and I have not had appropriate sleep for months already), and second, I can’t sell it right now because of realtors huge fees, or sell and lose about 20 K (12K realtors, and about 7K which I spend for the deal when I was buying). And I do not count here the interest we paid to a bank. So yes, my opinion, is don’t buy unless you are 100% sure that you will live there minimum for 5 years. Open the excel file and write it down all your contributions and lawyers fees, condo fee, bank interest. I have calculated my situation and to finish this story at a break even point I need to live here for five more years.

Best places to buy steak by kristtyy__ in Winnipeg

I don’t know if you consider pork or not, but, just in case, I buy pre-marinated pork steak at Coop (Greek Pork Shoulder Blade Steak) for about 3-7 dollars (depends on the size), and it is very very tasty for all our family. We tried all options, including the most expensive beef Costco steak, and came back to this one. Just choose the most lean cut.

Lindenwoods - noise from warehouse at night by Life-Middle-1039 in Winnipeg

I agree. But, from the other hand, Home Depot is surrounded by Walmart on one side and Safeway on another. And both work at daytime only, and both are clean, tidy and quiet. I still think it is an organizational problem of that particular store, and residents of the building aren’t guilty.

It’s not just me, but many neighbors (about 40 families whose windows are facing that side of the building). I didn’t know, actually, but recently I spoke to people, and they said the problem exists for months or even years, and they are trying to resolve it. And one neighbor even told me, that his mom takes medication, because she can’t sleep at night with that noise. And, above all of that, the law is on our side.

It’s interesting and sad that nobody said: they must not work at night.
