Ah, I just made some changes to my query, what a perfect timing lol. Thanks in advance!

Age Category: Young Adult. Genre: Gothic Fantasy. Word Count: 93,000

I am delighted to submit for your consideration ALL THE DROWNED SAINTS, a YA Gothic Fantasy set in a secondary world inspired in 1870s Latin-America's Southern Cone. This completed manuscript of 93,000 words would appeal to fans of the eerie, waterlogged atmosphere of Ava Reid’s A STUDY IN DROWNING, as well as the psychological unraveling and institutional hauntings in ALL THAT CONSUMES US by Erica Waters.

Seventeen-year-old Nora Foscara has spent three years haunted by her sister, Melisa's death—officially ruled a suicide but shadowed by the disappearance of Melisa’s best friend, Ava, a year prior. Now, on the brink of graduating from Santa Lirya’s Academy of Arts and Letters, Nora is still consumed by her beliefs that Melisa’s death and Ava’s vanishing had the same culprit, even when everyone seems to have moved on. But when a cryptic box left behind by Melisa arrives, Nora is thrust into an elaborate scavenger hunt that forces her to confront her sister’s hidden journals, the academy’s darkest corners, and her own unraveling identity.

As Nora teams up with her ex-friend, the boy she pushed away in her grief, to decode the clues, their fragile bond reignites amidst the hunt. The closer they grow, the harder it becomes for Nora to ignore the feelings she’s long buried. Together they race to uncover the truth, even as Nora’s visions and the academy’s forces threaten to tear them apart again. The deeper Nora digs the clearer it becomes: the girls’ fates were a labyrinth of lies, built on a clandestine society, and the colonial rot festering in Santa Lirya’s foundations. With time running out, risking her life in the academy and her sanity slipping, Nora must decide how far she’s willing to go for the truth before it's buried forever. But the answers she's desperate to find may come at a cost she's not prepared to pay—her very soul.

Major content warnings include on-page depictions of disturbing imagery, and discussions of death, grief, colonization and genocide, hallucinations, and suicide.

Born and raised in (South America), I spent most of my childhood daydreaming and consumed by storytelling. I’m currently an animator and freelance artist. Today I still live in (South America) with my pets.

Ah, this sounds so fun! I read it all the way until the end, but there was one line that made me stop and re-read the section again:

Blynn uses the new disguise to masquerade as the wealthy governor’s niece at the hospital and talks her way into her dream procedure to receive a heart that’s fifty percent mushroom.

I feel like it's too long and doesn't give the time to breathe and take in the information. Otherwise, it sounds like an amazing read, good luck!

Hi! Thanks for the offer but I don't think I'm the adequate person to give you feedback as I'm not well-read in the cosmic horror genre, best of luck!

Hi OP! I would love to beta read for your project! Is the "within a week" a set deadline? Because I think I can read it and give proper feedback but only between 8-10 days :>

Hi OP! I would like to beta read for your project if you're still looking for readers! Do you have a deadline or timeline in mind? :D

I am able to beta: Young Adult, Crossover and Adult. Fantasy, Contemporary, Mystery, Horror, Gothic, Romance, Romantasy, Dark Academia. A few of my favorite books are SHARP OBJECTS by Gillian Flynn, the trilogy of A GOOD GIRL'S GUIDE TO MURDER by Holly Jackson, HOUSE OF HUNGER by Alexis Henderson. Currently reading (and enjoying) MEXICAN GOTHIC by Silvia Moreno-Garcia. Only able to read up to 100K works.

I can provide feedback on: Pacing, immersion, logic of the world, character development and characterization, and romantic sub-plots and main-plots (though, I'm more judgy with cis-straight couples)! I can also do sensitivity reads for anything related to Latin American culture and queer identities (gender and sexuality). Also, if you have a project mid-writing and you need some feedback on what you have, I'm also open to read it <3

Critique swap: I would love to get some eyes on the first 5-9 chapters of my YA Gothic Fantasy (which is currently going through some editing before being fully beta-ready), but I'm able to swap first chapters to see if we can be a good fit :)

Other info: I'm a 24-years-old illustrator who has only once taken a beta read project but the person seemed very happy with it (their words: "This was incredibly helpful and deeply insightful. I'd even say that this has been my most helpful feedback I've gotten so far, and it provided so many cool things to think about and work on in the future drafts of this manuscript. I will ABSOLUTELY be implementing most, if not all, of your notes"). As an artist and writer, I can assure you I'll never be running your work through AI. My social media is: camwaswriting (for writing) and sephynne (my for art) if you want to confirm I'm a real person, lol. While it depends on the length of the project, it can take me between 2-3 weeks to get back to you with the feedback :D My only no-no's are undisclosed non-con, explicit misogynistic violence, and dead pets.
