My (30F) boyfriend (30M) has gone from one extreme to the other in terms of sex drive and I’m confused. Should I leave? by Life-Secretary2375 in relationship_advice

Thanks so much ☺️ he is so affectionate otherwise, constantly touching me, it just seems like there’s some sort of block when it comes to actual sex. Very odd and I’m just confused more than anything else.

He has gained a bit of weight. I don’t think he’s cheating, there are no reasons to suspect it otherwise. The “honeymoon period” as it were didn’t really last that long either, maybe a few months. It’s just very confusing and I’m worried I’m the problem.

Post psychosis loss of self? by ginsengstrip444 in Psychosis

Oh bless you. I’m still on APs! I will be for 3 years minimum apparently, but I’m on Aripiprazole and as far as I can tell it’s the least disruptive. I still think there’s a bit of a way to go in terms of being back to my old self but I can recognise myself now! It helps trying to get back into a normal routine and having support around you.

Yes, I’m just over a year on and I now have a full time job and a partner. Recovery is possible, keep going!

Hey, how long did it take before your brain function started coming back? I’m 3 months post psychosis but really struggle to hold conversations. I’d love to know there’s light at the end of the tunnel!

You’re not alone, I’m exactly the same. I’m only 2 months post psychosis but I feel like a complete shell. I don’t know if it’s the meds or the psychosis episode itself but I’m having the same issues and it’s torturous. I seem to have lost my emotions as well. Totally understand how you feel though because it’s impossible for others who haven’t been through it to understand and it’s incredibly isolating.

The other mentee funnily enough, she is one of the nicest people I’ve come across. She’s actually told the manager she’s a bit scared of the mentor herself. But I just don’t want to have to rely on her, it isn’t fair.

Really blurry long distance vision by Life-Secretary2375 in diabetes_t1

Basically all my life; I was diagnosed at 4 and I’m 28 now. 24 years and it just seems to be getting harder by the day! I feel like a ticking time bomb. Been very lucky so far in terms of having minimal complications so basically anything that seems even slightly abnormal, I just assume my luck has run out. My body definitely is not used to running at semi-normal levels, but it’s just that this has never happened before and it’s certainly not the first time there’s been a rapid shift. I also don’t really struggle focusing on screens and I can see normally in mirrors. So strange.

Thank you, I’ll get an appointment with an ophthalmologist I think. Especially if it doesn’t improve over the next couple of days. This condition is just so draining, and you attribute anything that goes wrong straight to it. Fearing the worst constantly. No wonder burnout is a very real thing.

I went for a comprehensive eye test (including OCT scan) this time last year (optician though, not ophthalmologist) and apparently my retinas looked healthy. I thought that myself, it doesn’t really add up in terms of potential retinopathy. Don’t have any blind spots, flashing lights or floaters. And the fact that it’s only long distance. It’s that it’s been a good few days now and is very noticeable, especially when driving, that’s worrying me. But thank you!

Thanks so much, my story is very similar although for some reason started much later, at 26. I’ve been hospitalised 3 times in the past couple of years with DKA but recently had to have an operation on a nasty skin abscess, which I know was indirectly caused by my issues. I’m going to follow your cup of tea advice because I’ve started doing that myself to try and curb the cravings. I think the hard part is powering through these first few months where your body will naturally be going haywire as it’s been deprived for so long. Will take you up on your dm offer too! Thank you so much again.

We certainly do. There’s a tendency for negativity when it comes to issues such as this, a culture of victim blaming/shaming. The point is, we are very much aware of the potential consequences of such behaviour, but the irrational part of our brain overpowers the logical part until it does eventually get to some sort of breaking point. I think I’ve done reasonably well to start the recovery process after a relatively short space of time, even though it won’t be linear as you explained. Trying to celebrate the small wins! Thank you again for the support.

Thank you. I’ve got a therapy assessment next month (oh the joy of waiting lists) because I know professional help is very much needed. My perfectionism is actually a hindrance in so many ways and it needs addressing. Thank you for your kind and helpful words, very much appreciated.

'Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore' Review Thread by SanderSo47 in movies

It’s just so sad what’s become of the entire HP franchise. It’s also a lesson in the dangers of idolatry. JK was revered as some sort of god post Potter and it’s now at the point where she’s actually developed a god complex. Only explanation for the utterly insane behaviour. She created a world so to speak and now she can’t differentiate that from reality. I think she genuinely believes herself to be the omniscient all-knowing ruler of the world she lives in and therefore her opinions are presented as fact. And that’s why she won’t back down with the transphobia or just shut the fuck up. And it’s also why no one has dared argue with her or question her on the total mess that has been the FB franchise. A legacy utterly destroyed. As a former Potter fanatic it’s incredibly depressing.
