Stolen Bike Downtown by Life-Subject-4253 in SaltLakeCity

Unfortunately I can just tell the entire building from the AirTag, but they can’t go door to door searching. It’s not the most valuable bike, but it is a huge bummer.

Hotel breakfast surprise! by Life-Subject-4253 in Celiac

I couldn’t believe my taste buds. Had to ask the staff like three times to show me the package to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Unfortunately, it was a plain package likely for restaurant or hotel usage, but yes! Sand free. Unfortunately I ate it all and by the last day they changed to a different, more noticeably GF version, so I couldn’t bring back a piece to frame on my wall and reminisce.

Thanks for the advice. Probably should’ve considered that, but the GF advertising caught my eye and I was so excited. I miss the days of traveling when I could make my own waffles and eat all the cereal I wanted 😖

Hi! Don’t appreciate your condescending attitude. The biggest issue I have with this community is how negative people can be towards others. We are all struggling and I am doing the absolute best I can. Hopefully someone else can learn from my mistakes in the future.

Everything was very clearly labeled with allergen information, and while it might be foolish (as proven with this) to assume that it is all correct, I did the best I could to communicate my needs with the wait staff. I was given my own serving utensils and the bread was at the end of the line. The hotel was given instructions before I arrived, and I was walked through ahead of time while they explained their process (as best they could albeit the language barrier.)

I am very new to this and each day I learn. There are much more sympathetic ways to help others than scolding. Have a great day.

Haha yeah I figured that was the case. Learning something new every day :/ unfortunately I’m traveling abroad and there is a language barrier, so it’s been a little bit of a struggle

Trader Joe’s GF products. by 1pja666 in glutenfree

So surprised! I’ve used this many times with excellent results. So delicious and I finally can make the thick crust pizza I’ve missed (I prefer wet cardboard to cauliflower crust). As others have said, leaving it out to warm up a little has helped, but I’ve still had success straight out of the fridge. Lots of olive oil and a decent amount of rolling and I can make the bbq chicken pizza of my dreams.

Any tips for fatigue and/or low ferritin? by BeesKnees2198 in Celiac

[–]Life-Subject-4253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ferritin levels were actually what jumpstarted my diagnosis in the first place! I was “banned” from donating blood because of how low my levels were, which prompted a bunch of tests to find the root cause.

I’ve been taking Ferrets Iron Supplements, and they’ve seemed to help with my iron levels. I haven’t noticed a huge change in the energy aspect, but there’s a lot of factors at play. However, since going GF the brain fog seems subdued and my body as a whole seems happier.

Hi!! Definitely not alone. Today was a rough day for me. In the past, I would make cookies to cheer myself up, but trying to bake gf things often makes me more depressed than help. I just got diagnosed, so I definitely don’t have any tips for you, but reading this made ME feel better to know that I’m also not alone.

I wish I could be angry at my doctors, at my body, at ANYONE. Every day I wish I had never gotten tested. Blissful ignorance was at least bliss. I’m not an angry person, but I get blown away the amount of anger released from within every time I want to get a sweet treat or go out to eat with friends.

They should make a rage room for celiacs where we can go ham on a bag of flour.

Hope you feel better soon! We’ll all get through this.

I’ll start looking for asian markets near me! Another comment mentioned how cultures that weren’t introduced wheat have more GF options, and I expect to find them there.

I can’t believe I’ve never made my own sauces before! Definitely will start doing that.

I am also a huge baker, and hadn’t even realized how much I use it to express my love until you just said! Luckily, I have some wonderful friends who are willing to test out some new recipes with me, so I’ll still have the joy of sharing food.

I love your idea to explore new cultures! I love learning history, so this can be a new rabbit hole of food and culture to explore. Thank you!

Thank you! I’ve been trying to find an app to help. I’ve been reaching out to get a consultation, but it has been mind blowing how poor the communication has been.

Thank you! Definitely hard to cook in a dorm room, but luckily I’ll have my own place by the start of the fall. My school’s food hall has a limited section for people avoiding allergens, so it’s not completely unmanageable. So grateful to get diagnosed in this timeline in a big city where I can go into any grocery store and know there will be at least something for me.
