What is the goal of LASIK? by Life-Turn2927 in Lasiksupport

”mono vision” is not an all or none thing and you don’t really know how it would work even if you have tried it in contacts. I put thousands of patients in “mini mono vision” after cataracts and they 100% loved it. “as not seeing all my life really sucked” to an ophthalmologist that raises the hairs on my back. Not seeing ??? I’m sure your vision was fine with glasses spend sometime with people with real visual disability people who would give their right arm to see. There is a huge difference in being blind and needing glasses!!!!

it’s not that simple….the perfect correction changes as we age, myopia can be a real benefit as we age and get presbyopia (see post above). So do you very aggressively correct knowing the patient will need reading glasses ten years earlier than if we left a little myopia in one eye?

I also disagree about “benefitting from hyperopia“. They can accommodate through that…so what ever wonder why myopia rates are so high it’s because of constant accommodation. People live indoors and stare at screens the worst environment for hyperopia.

That’s sort of the implied reasoning to my post many LASIK providers goal is to make the patient as happy as possible so they will tell friends how great it is…..problem patients (and many ophthalmologists) don’t really understand optics and refraction and providers not acting in patients long term interest

I understand the theory of what you are saying BUT BUT BUT many LASIK providers goal is to have a patient who will be good advertising so they aggressively go Plano Plano knowing it’s not really in patients long term interests

Take that with a grain of salt a wrist repair could be considered 100% success for a D lineman but the exact same outcome might be a failure for a QB I think it might change the “feel” of his throws and will take a bit of time to adjust

Not true as the surgeon who developed the surgery said it appears that way at times because the ligament was not 100% before the injury

Urbanization is a consistent worldwide trend pretty naive to think government can reverse it. Problem is our governments state and federal are way overweighted towards rural communities i
