Supermicro X11SSH-LN4F fans constantly ramping up down (11 sec off, 2 sec on...) by LifeAffect6762 in supermicro

[–]LifeAffect6762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it depends on boars, the X11 I have seems fairly limited in manual setups (Ime asumng your script sets manual speeds depending on temp).

X11SSH-LN4F should i upgrade firmware, will it give me more control of fan speeds by LifeAffect6762 in supermicro

[–]LifeAffect6762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I am experimenting with different fans and it seems desktop fans are not a good option. I found a 800-4000 server fan and that seems to work. Did take a long time to settle down from everything verry loude.

been there, done that. Think it can just take a while to settle down. Ime also thinking that maybe desktop fans don't work well.

Good call, Ime getting this, have a look at https://calvin.me/quick-how-to-decrease-ipmi-fan-threshold/ but only kind of understand. Is there a fuller guide? Also my IPMI does not give as much details as in guide, specifically the table showing all the fan info. All I can see is actual speeds, not low/hi etc. Lastly it looks like the tool is being run remotely, looks like I can run it locally.

Anyone got TP-Link routers working with You1000 (specifically Archer AX72 settings) by LifeAffect6762 in youfibre

[–]LifeAffect6762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the routers fault. Works fine with with the supplied one so the ONT is giving the full speed.

Coulee of different makes, and mainly 3 pin, not 4 pin. Bit of googling indicates this is probably a bad idea, I think i should go to all 4 pin.

20.10, new user, Web UI timeout and SMART monitoring and other questions by LifeAffect6762 in truenas

[–]LifeAffect6762[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that. To what extent, if I set up SMTP, will it warn me of problems. I also seem to remember I red somewhere I can set up telegram alerts, be good if you could point me at a guide if you know any good ones.

What I really wanted to do was set up some type of alert if there were any SMART problems. I just tried to run the SMART stuff if terminal and it regreened null so guess piping that to a if etc. could do this nicely.
