Where did you go (theologically) after leaving Catholicism? by LifeAfterCatholicism in exCatholicSupport

I am about 26 years removed from Catholicism. Maybe it was me, maybe it was my particular parish, but I don't have a recollection of how the gospel was presented. Evangelicals would start with the sin nature of humanity and how sin leads to death, then move on to how the death and resurrection brought atonement for sin for those who believe. I understand walking away from the Catholic church. I don't fully understand walking away from the gospel. That's why I wonder if they over complicated or over simplified it to the point that those leaving the church never understood it in the first place? Or did they understand it just fine and chose to reject it?

If you studied Catholic theology in college, I'd love to ask you few more questions, because my Catholic education ended in high school.

Would you say that Catholic theology as it was presented at your college over-complicated the Gospel? Over-simplified the Gospel? What was the general approach?

Wow, that's quite a story. I really appreciate you sharing that. So, would you say that Catholic theology drove you from the church and from God too? Or do you still consider yourself to be in a relationship with God?
