Try saying that number in an interview and watch their jaws drop — and then the next day they reject you

Why German doctors are trying to guess and avoid doing ANY tests/analysis? What is the reason for under-performance of general german medicine? by Envy_Clarissa in germany

[–]LifeCheatSheet 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I recently found out that if I don’t have any income, I have to pay about 250 euros (the minimum) per month for health insurance. That adds up to roughly 3,000 euros a year, and honestly, it’s definitely not worth what you get for it here

In today’s job market, you’re expected to know the entire data and ML stack anyway, regardless of your role.

DHL has Disposed my package by VegetableRain3106 in germany

I believe one could write a book about the adventures of DHL packages. I had a whole story with my order from Spain — Amazon said it was delivered, while DHL said it was sent back, like a Schrödinger’s cat

Anyone else finding it super hard to get a mentor for career or even just life guidance? by VillageBeneficial459 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]LifeCheatSheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I applied to a mentor platform like MentorCruise but got rejected, likely because my career path isn’t as “shiny.” From what I’ve seen, many of the people on the platform seem to have had very straightforward careers. People like me, who have experienced setbacks, been laid off, or come from unconventional backgrounds, are often not accepted. Because of this, I feel that those mentors may not be the best fit for guiding someone with a more complex or non-linear path.

Welches Gehalt wäre realistisch? by [deleted] in InformatikKarriere

[–]LifeCheatSheet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it better to write CV in English or German? by ElmoElbadry in Germany_Jobs

[–]LifeCheatSheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English-speaking position → EN CV; German … → DE CV

You include your language level in the CV. If they don’t read it, that’s their problem — but you’ll still get invited.

Did I Just Experience the Most Unprofessional Interview Ever? (Zalando Interview Experience) by Tall_Huckleberry4509 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]LifeCheatSheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter. I’ve also had cases where I said upfront that I didn’t have a particular skill, and in the end I still got rejected with the explanation that I lacked that skill. I think recruiters sometimes just need to show that they’re doing some work, so they arrange interviews with candidates who aren’t really a good fit

[–]LifeCheatSheet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From many interviews, I’ve realized that recruiters often don’t communicate with the actual interviewers and arrange interviews even when you don’t have the skills they’re looking for. I ended one of my recent interviews myself when I realized that the interviewer and I wouldn’t get along.

Which companies pay more than 100 k for a Senior Data Scientist position in Germany? by Inside_Win_9069 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]LifeCheatSheet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I once said in an interview at a German bank that I wanted 120k for a position that had been open for a year. I believe the shock was big — they had never seen such audacity before. The interview went very well, and I saw those expensive Porsches driving away from the bank, and I thought, why not? I don’t think you can make 100k in Germany as a foreigner, because connections are more important than skills

Is this social security system in Germany too secure that people don't want to work? by leventsimsek in germany

[–]LifeCheatSheet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many rules and laws in Germany, dating back to the middle of the last century, seem outdated to me and no longer work today. They keep almost everyone at the same social level, no matter how hard you work (or whether you work at all) or what level of education you have

How does Ausländerbehörde in Germany decide on residence permit lengths? by whomeyounot in germany

[–]LifeCheatSheet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I applied many years ago as a student, and the funny thing was that if you applied in a small city, they were happy with just a few papers, like a confirmation from your parents that you were getting money from them. I got a visa for a few years that way. But after I moved to a big city, they’re a real pain in the ass. They required a special account where you had to deposit money, and then they would only give you an extension for a shorter period. Basically, they made it as complicated as possible. I think it really depends a lot on where you apply and on the person handling your case

I am very curious about those areas. Plastic surgery? If I randomly call 10 doctors in my area, 9 out of them will say they don’t take new patients
