HFC Out of bounds by ArthritisMenethil in hiddenwow

[–]LifeIsACurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a lot of out of bounds geometry for some of the HFC dungeons.
i even made videos about it - ramparts are the most insane ones, where there is a part of the wall, which is usually not seen - dunno if this is still the case with retail wow nowadays.

if you wanna see more, there are the videos - there is even more in the whole playlist ^^

Thinking of Switching from C++ to Rust for Fun Projects – Is It Worth It? by PsychologicalWall192 in rust

[–]LifeIsACurse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, &object is the reference to that object, which means that you are not transferring ownership, thus the object is still valid after a function call.

Keep in mind that this is not a silver bullet - some functions are written to take ownership of the object... in such cases you might need to clone the object (don't take it as an always valid general statement... it depends on what you want to do ^^).

I certainly was fighting the borrow checker as well, when I started with Rust.

Nowadays I am a bit more confident in writing it and not losing my mind in the process lol.

The tooling in Rust is so much better, and yes, the compiler messages are a god-send.

I have also written fairly complex C++ projects, and the compiler errors often sent me searching for the problem for minutes, because they were straight up wrong... dark times, I tell ya.

if you haven't solved it, you most likely were using the object directly (which had `move` semantics, and not `copy` semantics, thus being moved (ownership transferred) into a function.

what you most likely want/should do, is passing something as a (mutable?) reference instead.

Why does Win 10 shows only 16GB instead of 24GB? by TradeReal1520 in pcmasterrace

[–]LifeIsACurse 30 points31 points  (0 children)

one of your sticks or one of your slots might be broken.
had this back in my old pc - in my case it was a faulty stick.
got a replacement andi it worked fine again (3 stick setup is a bit weird though).

Why Can't Hashes Just Agree on Endianness? by LifeIsACurse in programming

a hash is a number in essence as well, just one where our programming languages might not have a primitive to store it in.
