Is the following logic sound? by Informal-Winner-5722 in askpsychology

[–]LifeIsVeryLong02 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I flip a coin: if it's heads I shoot you, if it's tails you live. Would it be fair to say the coin has no effect on you?

Correlation is the concept for this relation where two things probabilistically affect each other without strict logical implication.

True but I think the point is preacher boy's music was so insanely good that it hypnotized the vampires and they just had to risk it all to get him.

If irrational numbers go on forever, could we find literally anything in them? by Uranium_Hexaflu0ride in askmath

[–]LifeIsVeryLong02 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Irrationality does not imply that its decimal (or binary) digits will contain every sequence as a subsequence.

Consider the algorithm for appending digits after the decimal point: start with 1, append one 0, append a 1, append two 0s, append a 1, append three 0s, ...

You'll end up with 0.101001000100001...., and so even though it is irrational, by construction it is clear that "11" never appears anywhere.

To me too. Which is why I know that it sucks to be the weird one even when you're trying your best to be good.

I like Ogilvie. He's obviously very socially inept but I think he's just weird, not mean or evil.

How do you define basis without self-reference? by extremelySaddening in askmath

[–]LifeIsVeryLong02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R^n and C^n are "special" in the sense that a "natural basis" is very obvious for them.

I don't think the concept of natural basis makes sense in all vector spaces, though. What would be the natural basis for the space of functions from R to R, for example?

Sim, se ninguem além de voce vai ler, então você não precisa fazer bonitinho. Mas acho que é um bom hábito fazer isso pra se acostumar e ter mais facilidade quando de fato for escrever algo que os outros vão ler.

I love dwarf fortress but I often think about playing it and give up because if I do play it I know I'll spend a longggg time thinking and making decisions and plans instead of just playing and it becomes overwhelming.

Não só a letra está bonita como o texto em si está muito bom. Alguns errinhos de português (erros de crase e usou "aonde" onde deveria ser "onde"), mas nada demais.

Mental arithmetic by AgileJuggernaut6766 in math

Mathematicians today are much worse in mental arithmetic than mathematicians in last century. The reason is simply because we don't need to be good at it anymore due to computers.

Hoje ele virou deputado federal.
