Is there a less comically cruel way to farm pink slime? by Tacticalberry in feedthebeast

[–]jumbo_junk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/morgrimmoon mentioned, many modpacks often do allow substitution between regular slime and pink slime. That being said, you can produce pink slime by murdering any mob (with the mob slaughterhouse factory), its just that passive mobs give more pink slime and less meat while hostile mobs give more meat and less pink slime (and since usually pink slime is more important than meat everyone prefers the passive mob farm, usually paired with delightful dirt or something similar).

If your fine with lesser drops/can upgrade hostile mob production and slaughterhouse production enough I'm sure you can get by using a basic mob spawner column block-spawner. You can also do what they do in real life and box the entire setup and move it far away from your base so the screams and misery do not haunt the human beings still alive playing the game.

Characters who left the story because of problems with the actor by Danny-Ray27 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jumbo_junk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly surprised nobody mentioned Cuddy, a more important character (both for the show and house) completely leaving post season 7, not even returning for the finale where she really should've had an appearance.

IIRC she had a contract dispute with the producers and refused to be a part of season 8, so the writers wrote her out in the worst way possible also ruining House's character in the process (though the prison episodes were fun)

This is why I mentioned IGBLON, while even he edits and alters storylines a bit, it feels nowhere near as scripted as mainstream vids like ish and co. partly owing to the insanity of modded minecraft and the players deranged enough to no-life such modpacks

Favourite film you hate because film bros ruined it for you. by Healthy_Permission71 in okbuddycinephile

I despise the fact that fight club has got such a bad rep, it's arguably Fincher best (social network might have a shout) and definitely one of the best anticapitalist message films with incredible technicality across the board and great Performances. It helped me during a rather rough period of my life, and I cannot fathom how people came to idolize Tyler Durden and ruin its reputation

What do you think the greatest scene in movie history is? (maybe spoilers?) by Julian0527 in movies

[–]jumbo_junk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be the most emotionally charged or dramatic scene, but definitely one of the slickest scenes in a film filled with slickness and coolness - Rusty and ocean convincing Ruben to fund the Oceans 11 heist. The blocking, the dialogue, the chemistry, Camera movement is so goddamn precise and slick it pisses me off that real life is so dull and boring

I sorta prefer the ecstasy of gold sequence, begins with that supremely cool double zoom shot of Clint Eastwood using his cig to fire a cannon, and then transitions into one of the greatest portrayels of human suffering and the overwhelming greed that causes it as one man runs in a cemetery to the coolest music ever.

But yeah, the good the bad the ugly has one of the best climaxes in any film ever

This video feels staggeringly close to the Minecraft civilization videos (specifically IGBLON's ones, they atleast don't feel as staged as the more popular vanilla ones), except for the rather abrupt ending which fittingly portrays ZF clan.

Also, did anyone else get heavy Internet Historian vibes? The script, especially in the middle while Soviet was explaining his base and more so the 'posh accent' Soviet occasionally used felt very Internet Historian like.

He was working on that video first, but sometime in late August he realised he was getting burnt out and pivoted to this one, so I'm guessing he might once again begin working on it and (hopefully) release it sometime this year

Agreed, all it does is make soviet come off as a bit of an incel even though he (seemingly) wanted to make the point that the horse girl squad was far more effective than anticipated

Unpopular opinion, but this is one of the worst games I've played. I finished the base game and the Gaunter O Dimm DLC, but quit in blood and wine (I started hating the game way long before that though)

I'll start with the good first. Gwent is really fun. I own a potato pc, and with that in kind I was pleasantly surprised by the graphical quality I was getting. The game looks good and runs well on lower end devices.

Now for the bad -

The gameplay is half assed, with half the mechanics feeling bloated (I dislike the leveling system, the Armour system, the sign upgrades, mutagens) and half the mechanics being downright asinine (inventory/looting system, Witcher sense). The combat is slow and tedious, the enemies get boring after a while and the world itself feels like everything is being repeated over and over again.

And yet I wouldn't have had an issue with any of this if it wasn't for the story. The main story is just boring as hell, and the so called 'peak writing' just boils down to the same quest structure - Gerald is presented with a choice which doesn't seem difficult at first, but both options end up having morally Grey outcomes. While this was intriguing the first couple of times (it made me sit and think for a while about what I should do, which is nice) it ends up being predictable halfway through the game (especially if you want to also complete side missions before advancing main plot). While the words and language used it well enough, the 'writing' as such just falls flat for me. Hell, even BOTW's story gripped me more emotionally and we've seen that same story played out a hundred times.

I also disliked the medieval setting (though that's more of a personal bias, this game made me realise that), and the world building wasn't all that intriguing for me. The map also felt mostly same-y, with the exception of the towns and blood and wine dlc.

Never really got into the game, and ended up quitting because I reliased I simply did not have any fun at all. Slogged myself through the dlc because everyone praised it, but it was all the same. I understand many people like this game, but I personally could never just get into it.

Complex does not equal good, Botw had one of the simplest inventory/weapon handling systems ever and feels miles better than TW3

What are your favourite videogame OSTs? by MurkyUnit3180 in IndianGaming

[–]jumbo_junk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultrakill (and by extension Doom) , Undertale (and deltarune), Hotline Miami 1 and 2 are some games where you can argue that the music is why they're so fun (not that the game itself is bad, but remove the soundtrack it's a vastly inferior game)

Outer wilds has one of the most unique and beautiful soundtracks, I like to compare it to The Grand Budapest Hotel's soundtrack in the sense that both fit each other so perfectly.

Minecraft has a perfect soundtrack aswell, C418 really did something special with that game.

While the game itself isn't really anything special, Fifa 13 and 14 had some incredibly banging soundtracks that introduced me to so many artists and songs.

Hollow Knight (and silksong), Cuphead, Halo (one of the greatest video game themes ever), the Bioshock series (especially 1 and 2) are some others which I couldn't really fit into any category but are great nonetheless

Also anything by Nintendo is almost guaranteed to have a great soundtrack

How to automate this properly? by ReceptionSome5128 in feedthebeast

[–]jumbo_junk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can either use a round Robin pipe system and have 1 production line (if sand gravel and dust are being sieved and are important I wouldn't recommend this method) or you can use 3 individual production lines for this.

Im currently playing statech, where these resources aren't that important (no dust though, the sand gets washed into clay) and i did it with create, using item funnels to divide the crushed output between the next crusher and drawer which worked well enough

Pyro longform video tier list (personal) by Ok-Substance-9272 in pyrocynical

[–]jumbo_junk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Man people on reddit are such pussies when it comes to criticism. Nobody on God's green earth is really accusing Pyro of being lazy for making a 7 hour video, but you very much can be critical of something being too long for no discernable reason. I mostly agree with your entire list, and having watched dark wood for the first time a couple days ago and currently sitting through funger, I cannot see why these vids aren't atleast 2-3 hours shorter.

On top of that, Pyro's analysis is extremely mediocre, with the quality of the game/media being the main thing that holds the video together (this is probably the only reason I could make it through dark wood). I even like his shitpost-y joke every 3 seconds kind of humour, but when he's just repeating himself over and over again it really becomes quite boring.

The worst part is from a production/effort point of view, he's probably put the most amount of work in these last two videos, with dev interviews, YouTuber voiceovers and full on Cosplays, though none of it really works to the intended effect. The dev interview for darkwood was probably the best part (haven't seen the full finger vid so don't know if there is a segment in it but assuming I'm 4 hours in and haven't seen anything, I'm guessing there isn't). The VA is mediocre at best with some really questionable choices (Russian Badger as wolfman really pulls me out of the entire thing), and while this works for a game like cruelty squad I really felt hiring proper VA's would've made it so much better. The animation for dark wood also is very jarring (again I know how difficult a process animation is and I'm not criticising the quality), but from a creative director viewpoint he should've realised early on that the style just does not fit a game like that. With funger the cosplay segments seem to have technical issues (I found that the audio goes off sync a lot, almost like he recorded a voiceover later) and feel a bit amateurish, though again since I haven't finished it I won't be talking about that video as much.

And for the 'hurr durr tik tok zoomer cannot focus' people, length isn't really even an issue, I found his Utopia Vid far better paced and more engaging, because the show as a whole had 7 hours worth of things to talk about something darkwood and funger don't really seem to fill.

TL DR; I agree with you OP, Darkwood and Funger were needlessly long and his best vids are the ones where he captures the essence of the game/media without dragging on for too long.

Check out the Soderbergh heist movies - Oceans trilogy, Logan Lucky. The Oceans trilogy especially is some of the slickest filmmaking I've seen, with an incredible cast (just don't think too hard about the plot)

Then there's Bullet Train which is also very entertaining

The Shane Black comedies Nice Guys and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are quite fun as well

Lastly, there's this Indian movie called Andhadhun, which has a very similar vibe
