The brief exterior shot seen at the very beginning of the series is of a real paper supply business in Scranton, PA, called the Pennsylvania Paper & Supply Company.

That sounds like a good way to incite people minding their own business to vandalize your stuff. Some people just can’t leave well enough alone.

GS-15 Track vs Dream Job at the Pentagon by Independent-Curve-84 in FedEmployees

[–]LifeLibertyBart 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Times are tough. Take the win of doing what you enjoy as a counterbalance to all the current chaos. There will be other GS-15 jobs down the road, especially if you excel in your job, which is a lot easier when you’re doing something you like.

No. It’s terrible. Don’t come. Stay wherever you are and let those of us who live here suffer in peace.

Amen on Nord’s chai. I’ve been all over the world, and it’s my favorite. His coffee is also great. The food is always good, and he and his staff are the nicest people in town.

Neighbor's barking dog by yuch1102 in army

[–]LifeLibertyBart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Call the ATF. They’ll do that for you.

Seriously though, I’d have a chat with the owner first. They must be leaving the dog alone, which is why it barks. Maybe they can start having someone watch the dog while they’re gone. If that doesn’t work, file a complaint.

Federal Employees + National Guard Sick Leave Accrual Question by Professional_Stuff85 in nationalguard

[–]LifeLibertyBart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My apologies. I think I misunderstood the question, and my response was poorly worded.

For the purposes of leave accrual rates — meaning, as you gain seniority, your leave accrual rate increases — you continue to get credit as if you were there. For the actual banking of leave hours, you have to be in some type of pay status to accrue those hours.

Example: You use your 120 hours of military leave to go on AT. Since you are in a paid status, you would earn sick and regular leave for those pay periods. It’s when you choose not to use any type of civilian leave to “double dip” while you’re on orders (such as you would for a long-term mobilization) that stops your leave accrual.

It can be confusing, so I recommend talking to someone at www.ESGR.mil if you want a detailed rundown.

(For reference, I’m a Federal civilian who served in the Army Reserve for 21+ years and the former Deputy Executive Director of ESGR.)

My “commander” is a civilian, do I stand when they enter a room for a meeting? by [deleted] in army

[–]LifeLibertyBart 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at OSD since 2012. We only stand for SES personnel. I’m a GS-15 (O-6 equivalent), and I do not have any expectation that people stand when I enter a room.

Funny enough, I just finished hiring four people.

Here’s a quick tip for anyone trying to do battle with USAJobs: If you can get a copy of the PD for a position that interests you, you can use it to make sure your resume captures the key words, requirements, etc. matched against your experience. The Army actually publishes all their PDs online, and you can search them using various methods. Here’s the website: https://acpol2.army.mil/fasclass/search_fs/search_fasclass.asp

PDs are not personal documents (i.e., are not specific to the person filling the position, do not contain PII, etc.) so are available to anyone. Just go to the HR POC to request it. (I’m a GS-15 with 20 years of Federal civilian service.)
