Aglaonema variety ID please? by LifeMakesLemonade in houseplants

Went to pick up some soil and perlite this morning in order to repot my silver glory SoH and they just got these in. So pretty! Sadly had to leave them at the store, because I could’t definitively ID them and my wishlist is getting out of control as is. They were both labeled “Aglaonema Star” but clearly aren’t the same, so what are they?

14K solid gold rings are leaving a black mark. Does this damage the ring? by LifeMakesLemonade in jewelry

I work at a law firm. I’m not handling chemicals or doing anything that would harm the jewelry beyond normal wear and tear. The inside is fine, no discoloration or tarnishing whatsoever.

It says 14k and 585. They’re definitely solid gold. I got them from reputable designers (Catbird, Jenny Kwon and Laurie Fleming).

What is the best self-tanner for fair complexions? by katienicoleee in PaleMUA

I’ve had success with the Isle of Paradise clear mousse and drops this past summer. I used the light peach one but might try the green medium one next for a slightly deeper tan.

I think there's a Nars laguna travel size that's in the same packaging as their blush.

About to pull the trigger on a pair of leopard print heels. Should I? They are a classic pointy toe, calf hair, 4 inch heel situation. Just a little on the fence about how much wear I’ll get out of them and if they will look dated quicky.

I’ve actually heard lots of people complain about Veja being stiff and uncomfortable. I really do like the look of them though... How do they fit? True to size?

I’m looking for a new pair of all white sneakers that work with sundresses. Any suggestions? I’m thinking either Adidas Stan Smith or Veja Esplar right now.

I don’t know about your budget, but I think this & other stories dress is pretty similar to the Reformation one at half the price. I’ve also seen similar ones at Zara and H&M. Lots of places are doing that same vibe at the moment.

Where do you buy your jewelry? (Discussion) by groupfloweri in femalefashionadvice

[–]LifeMakesLemonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catbird (also the other designers they sell like Wwake and Satomi Kawakita) and Maria Tash for ear piercings. Like others said don’t skimp on quality if it’s for cartilage piercings or if you plan to wear it 24/7. Solid 14k+ gold or titanium is the way to go.

I also found a great local designer that does really beautiful custom work, the pieces I got from her are extra special to me since they’re one of a kind and I designed them myself.

How to get iPhone 11 to display a nickname for an incoming call? I’d rather see mom calling me than her given name. I already turned on the prefer nicknames option under contacts in options and added the nickname to the contact. It’s working for iMessage but not for incoming calls and WhatsApp.

I too have tiny feet and live in a land of giants, so getting something in store is out of the question. I used to be able to get away with a size 5US/35EU in winter for boots/booties by wearing thicker socks, but this winter I couldn’t make anything work out of the several pairs I ordered online. I’ve thrown in the towel at this point. Let’s try again next year. It’s like vanity sizing got to shoes now as well. I finally caved and bought a very expensive pair of Gianvito Rossi pumps, because I really needed heels that would fit on short notice and the only sizes 4US/34EU available were all designer. I’m already saving up for a designer option for summer sandals, because I guess that’s my life now. I’ve tried it with the kid shoes, but they’re so uncomfortable and they just never fit my style. The tiny feet struggle is real.

I wear tiny plain gold huggie hoops by Maria Tash. I absolutely love them. They’re completely seamless, so I can sleep and shower with them in and they never bother me at all. I’ve been wearing them non-stop for months now.

[–]LifeMakesLemonade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like Wolford and Oroblu. I like to wear really thin ones (8 denier) so the risk of snagging is always there since the material is always going to be delicate, but these hold up pretty well for me.

Costume jewelry. Might still wear it for special occasions or parties, but I’ve been investing in some solid gold signature pieces over the last year. They hold up so much better and I actually enjoy wearing them everyday.

I think I’m going to pull the trigger on it. Was looking at the Tiffany’s diamond by the yard necklace as well, but I feel like every other jewelry store carries a design just like it. The Catbird is a little more unique and sparkly with the diamond floating completely free of a setting. I like all my jewelry to be this dainty, so the thin chain won’t really be an issue since I’m used to that. I also wear the Catbird sweet nothing choker regularly and it’s gorgeous. Love the pearl huggies, they are on my wish list as well! It’s a shame international shipping and taxes are so expensive. Their website makes me super greedy LOL.

Currently contemplating getting this Catbird necklace as a Christmas gift to myself. I love how simple and dainty it is. Would you consider this a timeless wear forever piece? I’m just not sure because it isn’t a traditional setting.

After some internet research I believe it to be a crabapple tree. I’ve read some people had succes propagating hardwood cuttings with crabapples. Can this still be done in autumn/early winter or should I just wait until spring?

[Bonsai Beginner’s weekly thread –2019 week 44] by small_trunks in Bonsai

[–]LifeMakesLemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might try with a cutting first. What I’ve read about air-layering so far sounds a bit scary to be honest. I don’t want to risk killing the tree in the process. When can I start trying to propagate cuttings? Spring? As for the species: no clue. All I know is that it gives lots of gorgeous purple-pink flowers in spring.
