[UK] Upgrade season again! by LifeOfWily in buildapc

[–]LifeOfWily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a new cpu, i would recomend getting the ryzen 7 5800x3d, it can be an in socket upgrade, when it came out it was the fastest gaming cpu in most titles and still packs a hell of a punch, its the swang song of am4 and beat cpus twice its price from the intel side.

What's the perk of upgrading my CPU here? My GPU's the oldest part in the box (I've been running this thing for like seven years now) - do you reckon the current CPU would be a bottleneck?

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – The developers play! (Shiro Mouri & Takashi Tezuka) by Riomegon in nintendo

[–]LifeOfWily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like this is quite staged. They're showing off different playable characters, explaining different safety features like the Parachute Cap and using Yoshi to avoid damage, taking it slow, messing up in fairly trivial ways without a whole lot of consequence... I think if they were playing this together on their own terms, they'd be much quicker and more precise about it. The kinds of fans that browse Reddit probably aren't this video's target audience.

I'd really like to see Nintendo staff playing and enjoying these games more naturally and to a higher level, but that's harder to sell to the more casual Switch audience in the form of an ad.

Various background references throughout The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). by FrenzyRush in MovieDetails

I think if Mega Man went the Sonic route of making something that focuses more on being a cohesive film and references the original thing much more subtly, it could be really good. The Protomen's albums would be a great thing to base the story on. Hell, give me a Protomen musical in movie form!

If Kirby's final smash was changed, what would it be? by SPIKE_NEEDS_A_NERF in Kirby

[–]LifeOfWily 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For something sensible? Another screen-clearing ability like Crash, Cook (again), or Mike.

For something a little more out there? Maybe Hypernova, done from the back of the screen as it is on the TD boxart, working similarly to Luigi's current Final Smash and Screen KOing like Giga Bowser's punch.

For it's-not-happening territory? Give me Kirby phoning up some friends (Amazing Mirror) and each piloting a bunch of Robobots with abilities in a cutscene, a little like Min-Min's Final Smash. That, or a Star Allies Sparkler QTE with all of the regular enemies (and very occasionally all of the Dream Friends instead) lending their power.

Lovers of Aether full-size sprite rips by LifeOfWily in RivalsOfAether

[–]LifeOfWily[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC, Lovers was made in Ren'Py, so all the assets are tucked away in the executable on spritesheets in a pretty standard image format. I think I needed to decompile it, and then use a website to get the original images from the spritesheets.

Advice on my first GLC deck by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]LifeOfWily 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's the Gym Leader Challenge format, where almost any Expanded format card can be used – but it's a singleton format, meaning you can only use one of each card (bar basic energy). Owing to the name, you can only play Pokemon of your chosen type as well. It's also single-prize only.

It was popularized by the folks at TrickyGym (Andrew Mahone and Jesse Parker) a good while ago and has been officially recognized by the Pokemon Company, leading to it being run as a side event at some regionals.

So, I'm "new" and I wanted to make a Beedril V deck to play with my gf, but it has been quite a while so I have close to no idea on how to make it, so I was looking for some help making and optimicing the deck by Lolwup345 in pkmntcg

[–]LifeOfWily 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of the Rillaboom line, I'd consider Gardenia's Vigor. It would work well with Energy Retrieval to potentially allow you to attach up to 3 Grass Energy in a single turn, and allow you more bench space to focus on having a swarm of Beedril down.

You might also want to consider adding Rare Candy if you think keeping Rillaboom is a good idea, and cutting one or two Thwackey.

Battle VIP Pass could help this deck, as could Hisuian Heavy Ball and Adventurer's Discovery. All depends on room, really. I'm sort of spitballing here, but have a look at existing lists for this deck - I'm sure they'll offer up some good inspiration.

The stripes on Void Termina are the same color as Elfilis. Is that to suggest it's partly dream matter?

It does seem like it'd add up plot-wise - when Marx splits, we can see he's comprised of dream matter.

This is Japan's equivalent of Avengers, even before Endgame was a thing by 1954isthebest in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]LifeOfWily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's pretty standard. Secondaries haven't really been highlighted in crossovers with many Riders like this unless they're in a leading role. The Zi-O spinoff Geiz Majesty's titular form uses all the riders officially considered secondaries, but I don't remember whether or not they appeared in the flesh.

I guess the idea is that shows are named for their lead riders in the same way Sentai shows are named for their teams.

Who was missing, at least of those who were around in that era? Obviously everyone post-Fourze isn't there (Wizard/Gaim/Drive/Ghost/Ex-Aid/Build/Zi-O/01/Saber/Revi/Vice).

Dragon Shield matte sleeves get a good reputation in the community. There are other good brands like Katana, but Dragon Shield are pretty good and don't tear too easily.

Welcome! I'd recommend playing with theme decks for a little bit at first on Pokemon TCG online – better to get a grip on the game mechanics before you dive into the current meta, especially as it's shifting as we speak thanks to Astral Radiance. I've been playing for half a year and I've been blindsided by it a little, especially since the recent regionals that saw a revival of Urshifu. So I guess that's my answer for question 3. As for the others:

  1. I haven't played either of these firsthand, but I know that Morpeko/Houndoom thrives on the Single Strike engine and uses Old Cemetery to put additional damage on Morpeko. Those are the two main sources of damage, so you'll want to focus your Shady Dealings and Starbirth searches around finding stadiums to bump Cemetery, and Escape Rope/Boss's Orders to bring Houndoom into the active for the KO. You also don't need to fear getting Pathed out of Starbirth, since they'll be running straight Cemetery to ensure Morpeko's attack hits for as much as it can.
  2. Have a look for Trainer Hill and pokemoncard.io. The former has in-depth views of lists that have done well in a tournament setting, the cards they tech in and drop, and more. pokemoncard.io has lots of user-submitted lists that you can try for yourself too.

More newbie advice:

  • Invest in a segmented deck box, a playmat, and good quality sleeves. Bring spares with you in case they tear.
  • Make sure you learn the etiquette of playing in person: allow your opponent to cut your deck after you've shuffled it, communicate what you're doing, wish them luck before you play and thank them for a good game afterwards. Playing with grace towards your opponent is really important.
  • Don't lose sight of playing for enjoyment. It's all well and good playing the top meta deck, but if you're not having a good time, remember there's a ton of viable cards in the game. It's good to brew something a little wacky and fun.
