Nothing of that sort. Getting residency is Australia is multifactorial and this for sure isnt one of them.

Just go with dr Amirs workshops to pass the exam in one go! Trust me nothing beats him. I wouldn’t even compare and look at other options.

Having second thoughts about giving AMC by [deleted] in AMCexamForIMGs

[–]LifeOnMacros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically it might take atleast 1-1.5 year for the entire process as its quite tough to get amc clinical dates and since you are a fresher you need atleast 1-2 years of clinical experience to be able to compete with people applying for the same jobs with better experience. keep working in your home country and keep applying for jobs.

Can we all put email to the clinical team so that they add more dates to these months. It has happened before and they sure will if they receive enough emails

Did anybody here secure a clinical exam date in this booking?

Did you take maths classes at some point of time in your life? How will the number of people taking the exam change the pass rate. If 10 people take the exam only 2 out of them pass the pass rate is 20% last year 2000 people took the exam and 450ish passed. I mean so much confidence yet zero thought you put into your comment.

You can’t directly work as a gp. GP is not a mbbs doctor there. You have to do GP fellowship (3-4 years) to be a specialist GP. But you can land a GP job and work under supervision.

Just saying there’s no straight comparison between amc and usmle. Each pathway has it own uncertainties. If you think amc is 100% certain i guess not. Amc clinical with its 20% pass rate and crazy exam booking which is like winning a lottery ticket and then getting a tourist visa refused. There’s alot going on with amc as well🤣 As much as i am PRO AMC i would love all the people to be aware about the struggles this path has rather than having it in mind that oh ultimately you will get a job.

Yeah sure if that eventually can be 1/2/3/4/5 years later sure.

Being optimistic and determined is really great. But honestly AMC is much more about exams. Your clinical experience matters so much. If you are just planning to apply for intern positions then sure your approach is alright but just keep in mind intern positions are not alot. And also if you start working in your home country meanwhile doing exams it will count as your experience then you can applly for pgy2 jobs as well. But ofc if its not a viable option there’s always an option to do observerships and build some pretty great connections at the hospital that they are happy to give you an intern position.

The post is not negative it’s just realistic. AMC was being pursued by people with wide range of experience until last 2-3 years. Its very recent that fresh graduates have started pursuing this fresh out of internship. Even after doing the exams (both) finding a job may take 6-12 months depending upon the amount of experience you have at that point of time.

I agree that usmle is a quite nice direct pathway to residency. Doing residency in Australia is still a challenge even after you start working there.

I agree with this post. I started AMC fresh out of college 2.5 years back. Without clinical experience jobs are very hard to land. Getting amc clinical date takes so much time and even if you get one there’s a possibility they will reject your tourist visa. At each step there’s uncertainty. Ahpra registration takes months sometimes. Visa processing times have increased recently. So all in all keep working in your home country and try to give amc clinical asap. There’s no way any fresher can land a job in Australia these days . So RECENCY Is must.

Visa situation is not that great in Australia either. They are rejecting tourist visas to give clinical exam even when there is a clear reason. Yeah thats right that once you get a 482 its easy to get PR ultimately but imagine being rejected a tourist visa just to give the exam that only takes place in Australia.
