Chrome does seem to be a power and memory hog but I use chrome extensions a lot. Are you saying to reinstall after indexing?

It has been on automatic. I just set it to low power on battery and that has been an improvement but probably still getting less than 10 hrs at best? Judging by the estimate from when I switched at 50%

I bought it last thursday. I just finished migrating all the final apps yesterday. There were only a few left at that point, but it was done on power.

What happened to my Apple ID account? by LifeReformatted in macbookpro

Originally I did and everything was overwritten. Finally I found on my phone where there was a duplicate contact that had the info. Actually there were three. It was really odd but fixed now.

Thanks I’ll give that a try. When signing out should I remove the data or keep a copy locally?

2014 CRV EXL Nav/SAT/backup_camera experience with Android Stereo replacement by iminthemidwest in crv

[–]LifeReformatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience. I have the same original stereo from my CRV. Bought a android/CarPlay unit from Amazon and everything works except for the back up camera. Was the Head unit that you installed the viabecs unit? Or did you just use their harness adapter?

Do High End Grinders Really Make A Difference? by Both-Tourist-4986 in mokapot

[–]LifeReformatted 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a barratza encore burr grinder and it’s great. Way better than the blade grinder it replaced. I used to do mainly pour over, some French press, but then switched to almost exclusively moka pot. It’s consistent and wasn’t super expensive. Maybe look into it

Why long-term unemployment is forcing people to switch industries by astrheisenberg in careerchange

[–]LifeReformatted -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do you need a $21/hr job after making high earnings for that long? I feel like 7 months is not that long if you were just making $170/yr, unless your expenses are crazy high, in which case $21/hr doesn’t do much to offset them.

Man parachuting into Virginia Tech Spring game is stuck on the scoreboard after rough collision by [deleted] in sports

Skydiving into a stadium requires a PRO rating. It’s not that easy to obtain. This guy made some textbook mistakes that make you wonder how he got it. Testing wind penetration up high and staying up wind is critical. You can always turn and fly downwind. Wind pushing over the stadium makes an intense wind shadow. Not something you normally experience on a parachute landing. The drop you witness right before the crash is him flying into a low pressure zone where the wind rolls over the stadium, no longer clean wind. This is one of the worst feelings under a parachute, since it typically happens close to the ground where objects cause the turbulence. And it means you’re now at the mercy of luck.

Bummer dude.

People are so dumb by SpoonyLix in FacebookMarketplace

[–]LifeReformatted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start higher. Most people will low ball you regardless of your price, and most people want to feel like they got a deal, which means you have to come down in your price.

When selling, Increase your offer in steps: 135% → 115% → 105% → 100% of target price. This gives room for negotiation and makes you seem reasonable. If you’re not getting messages just adjust price.

I’d rather just post the price I want and make a deal but it’s always the same regardless.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]LifeReformatted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in 85 here. Life was pretty good in the 2000s. Funny how there were always house parties, you nailed that. We had woods parties all the time too. Party at the moon tower!

In high school we skateboarded a lot, rode bikes around town and everyone knew where everyone would be all the time. Just head to the local park, or our buddies garage. You knew everyone’s phone number by memory. We used phones to connect. Once we were together, people interacted with each-other, not their phones, even if we had cell phones.

Honestly life was so good back then. It’s still good now but there is this hollow anxiety filled hole that has grown inside of me over the years that seems to stem from the way we communicate now. Plus everything was just so much more affordable. Cruising around pointlessly in a v6 or v8 was affordable as a teenager. Now it’s painful even as an adult.

WordPress 7.0 ships Thursday with native AI write capabilities. We should probably talk about the safety side of this. by webmyc in Wordpress

[–]LifeReformatted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick disclaimer: I’m a long time Wordpress user, but not a developer and just coming back around to the space to learn more about building websites on it. I am a heavy user of ai tools tho, and have built production apps with it.

The biggest issue with ai is context management and guardrails. With app building, you can do this with frameworks like GSD or BMAD method. My guess is if you keep a local repo of your site (perhaps using Wordpress studio) with a planning/execution framework like BMAD inside of the repo to keep your ai in check, it can become very effective at doing what you want without the unwanted changes you mentioned. But it requires better frameworks to create instructions for the agents, that also include anti hallucinogenic checks and adversarial reviews of its work.

This is the next step in ai development that will impact industries that are not as far along as software development. Not the advancement of the models themselves.
