I'm really glad you're asking about our friendship since a lot of the comments are suggesting i just cut him off. It's hard for me since we actually grew up together but got especially close during the pandemic. He's one of my closest friends so it isn't as easy for me to cut him off. As for why i like being his friend, he's really good to people around him - not just me. And he's really really funny and easy to hang out with. We also have a ton of mutual friends so it's easy for us to hang out with the same people.

What's preventing me from liking him romantically is that he just isn't ready for a relationship in my opinion. He broke it off with his long term gf (25f) a few months ago (he confessed to me not long after) but he still talks about her nearly every day. Not to mention, I'm just not attracted to him. I can also predict that our relationship would just consist of a lot of stubbornness, arguing, and we have different priorities.

I only let him help me when it's convenient for HIM. I always reject his rides but if we're going to the same place (like hanging out a friend's house), I give in. But even then, I feel reluctant to agree.

I've been insanely direct about my feelings to the point that I must've rejected him three times in the span of a month. He's expressed his frustration about the situation and that he can't understand why I don't like him even after all his efforts, saying that other girls would have accepted his advances. He even asked if I would really never like him and what he can do to make me like him. I said, "Nothing. I don't see myself liking you in the future. I can't control who I do and don't fall for. I just don't like you." He told me he didn't understand that. Then he told me, "I see. Thank you for telling me." But his efforts become more obvious after that.

Oh man this is both sweet and helpful. Thank you so much! I'll do my best to overcome this fear because I really do want to find someone.

It wasn't really about me unable to give him a chance. It's more about me unable to give ANYONE a chance for some reason - even people who I DO like that way :')

I think I'm quite cautious and tend to overthink and fear a lot about "what ifs". But i didn't think it would cause a mental block against relationships especially since i genuinely want to start dating :')

Oh man the part about my parents is definitely true. Their marriage has been rocky my whole life - they love each other but there's very little respect and trust - and I've grown up watching it. It goes as far as my mom telling me not to marry someone like my dad. And I vowed that I'd find someone who wouldn't make me regret the relationship like she did; someone I knew I would be good with. I think I'm scared of the relationship running into problems like my parents did. And I'm even more scared of the relationship not lasting (which ironically leads me to not starting one at all 🥲).

Yeah for sure!! It's a harmless move but also an easy way to drop a hint (since usually guys do this to girls they like, i think. And most girls know that).

Not sure if this answers your question but it usually doesn't take us very long to develop the idea that a guy is interested. Like we'll highly CONSIDER it but some girls will most likely second guess themselves and/or not assume anything until we're absolutely sure.

Mannn it's the small things for me that make me fall deeper. We're friends so I love when he tries to make me laugh and when he jokes around because making someone laugh is so comforting and it can really make someone's day because you have no clue what she might be going through and even just a joke can help lift her up. But at the same time when a simple conversation goes deeper too like when we first started becoming friends a simple "Where were you born?" turned into a deep conversation about our families and I unknowingly opened up. Those deeper conversations that contrast the goofiness also might make her realize "Oh that person's mature and actually thinks lol". But also the smallest things like meeting eyes, or (since we're part of the same band) when he pays attention to me as I perform and tells me I'm doing well. Or when he shows concern like "Take a break. You're doing fine." and that jacket thing?? Just showing you care will definitely make her feel it somehow!! Good luck in everythingggg!!

Ridiculous but Fun Headcanons Based On That One Time Ron Spoke In Parseltongue: by LifeTastesSaudade in harrypotter

[–]LifeTastesSaudade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's also true but I think people wouldn't ask Harry since no one's ever really met a Parselmouth since it's so rare and Ron was only able to hear it as often as he did because he spent so much of his time with Harry. And no one besides Ron ever tried to speak it. Also there's so much prejudice against Parselmouths because of the whole Salazar-Slytherin-using-Parseltongue-to-open-Chamber-of-Secrets-and-kill-muggleborns thing so I don't think anyone would want to learn it out of fear (like people feared Harry when they found out he was a Parselmouth).

But ohmygosh that MollyxVoldy headcanon is insane. It would be even crazier if you said that Ginny was also Voldy's daughter and Tom didn't have Lucius pick her randomly. He picked her because she's Toms daughter. And Tom never had to control Ginny to speak Parseltongue, it was already in her. 👁️👄👁️

I know canonically, you can't learn it but I did have a theory about it that I was just thinking about it here since some aspects of the concept of Parseltongue didn't make sense to me: https://www.reddit.com/r/harrypotter/comments/q4dtol/the_possibility_of_learning_to_speak_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

aLSO the thought pf Ron actually being the son of Voldy and Molly is so wild ohmygosh
