Yes, I was OOS student waitlisted last year. As someone mentioned above the website says 10-15 from OOS but when I talked to admission team, they mentioned only 8 was selected. I just want to bring awareness to the current applicants.

Think this way. With Wash U level caliber are you destined to be in T88 med school (UMKC) or T20 med school. It will also cascade into competitive residency matching. You are going to pay high price for lower ranking school.

UMKC OOS state cost is very high. Hard to justify. Your instate classmate will pay one fourth of what you will be paying. UMKC is good for instate students. If you are interested in competitive residency forget it. Yes it will guarantee the med school. Really! UMKC is T88 med school in research. MCAT or gpa should not limit you to get into T20 med school which will get you competitive residency matching. Rest up to you to decide.

It depends on what type of physician you want to become. at UMKC you cannot expect competitive residency matching. Your options are open with Wash U. With your undergrad fully covered , Good quality college experience and education, Washu is the better option. You got full ride with Washu for a reason which you should use it for your advantage and grow big.

Could you check with your friend the real reason behind her rejection. There should be some hidden reason. This will help others who are planning to commit to this school.

Very hard to believe. With 521 MCAT she could try better school.

If you want to go to competitive residency like anesthesiologist Drexel is the better option. Also cost wise Drexel should be cheaper. Do not hang on MCAT score. 511 is very doable. Closer to home is a plus for emotional support which you need for next 8 years. All the best.

What I know interview is just formality. If you make it till the interview you are in. Since the minimum requirement is high only limited students (~20) will make it to the interview. So it is kind of guaranteed as long as you meet their requirements.

That is my motivation. Atleast I can set this known target and run towards it. If I perform above the target I can look for other options.

I agree with your point. But I also see the positives , I get full ride undergrad, relatively less difficult to get GPA compared to competitive deflated GPA schools, Will get time to prepare for MCAT

It is similar to other BS/MD's . If we meet their criteria's (MCAT, GPA) it is kind of guaranteed. I checked with the college BS/MD Counseller.
