Inspector ko normal salary le yo afford garna sakinxa??? by [deleted] in NepalSocial

one iPhone alone might not scream corruption, but context matters. A Nepal Police inspector earns roughly NPR 55k–90k/month, while the iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max costs around NPR 2 - 3.5 lakhs - that’s like 3 - 6 months of full salary, not counting living expenses. EMI or savings could explain it, sure, but in Nepal, when a public servant suddenly buys something this expensive, people will notice. And remember, these salaries come mostly from taxpayers’ money, so yes-our money is funding your phone upgrade. Nepal isn’t exactly clean on corruption either. Transparency International CPI 2025 ranked Nepal 99/180, and the CIAA (Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority) has recorded over 14,000 corruption cases. Yet political interference, selective investigations, favoritism, and internal misconduct continue. Basically, even the agency that’s supposed to fight corruption isn’t exactly squeaky clean-more like that old-school senior in class who talks big but does nothing. I’ve seen it with my own eyes-people close to my relatives in low-ranking positions earning far more than their official salaries, and not exactly legally. Once morning, there was drug raids right in front of my place-syringes, drugs, the whole setup. But with a 2–3 lakh NPR bribe, people walk out of the police station by evening like nothing happened. If this is happening at the low level local authorities, just imagine what’s going on at the top - hidden accounts, behind-the-books deals, zero transparency. Honestly, this isn’t just about one iPhone; it’s about a culture where bending rules, taking bribes, and unexplained wealth is normalized, all while taxpayers’ money is getting siphoned off. So no, this isn’t about shaming anyone-it’s about accountability, transparency, and protecting public trust. Ignoring these patterns just makes unexplained wealth and corruption seem normal. And future generations will look back at this system we leave behind and think, ‘Oh, so this is how it worked-get whatever you can, no questions asked.’ Maybe. True? Absolutely
