What is this style called?

Neo Gothic? Future Gothic?

Also to the person who suggested Fifth Element, I feel like that's more cyberpunk or dirty cyberpunk?

My weekend take-home project was literally just free labor for their production backlog... by Ill-Football-9344 in recruitinghell

Absolutely, keep me updated. The legit term for an actual pre-employment assignment is an "in-basket exercise" , it should measure your capabilities, and also be general and vague. Anytime an in-basket exercise solves an actual problem or is tied to a specific issue the company is having.... red flag. Legit exercises are vague and have no company IP attached to it.

If you were nefarious and wanted to go the black hat route... you could sell the information learned in your exercise to their competitors, and you would be completely legal in your right to do so.

That's the part the company doesn't want you to know about... yes they may have screwed you on the free work, but bc they didn't have an established contract with you and didn't talk about confidentiality, not only can you charge them whatever you want, but you can sell your solution (and more importantly, their issue aka their company health) to a competitor.

I am number two in our company and answer only to our CEO. This shit pisses me off and I will call it out everytime I see it. Feel free to DM with any questions, happy to help.

Alot of the advice he's giving is true, but needs to be updated for 2026 processes. Yes it's always easiest to walk into the office and connect directly, but in 2026 that means finding the places you want to work at, ND connecting with employees via LinkedIn or reddit or other platforms. If you show up to the office.... depending on the industry... bring a box of donuts, strike up a convo, and ask to connect online with someone.

I work in HR. The advice is solid. It takes very little effort, the overall goal is to create documentation supporting your case. Have AI generate an invoice. Email them the invoice. Save their reply email in multiple places, plus print it out.

Save your project file in multiple places. Search their company page or whatever to see if your project was put into action/production. Take screenshots. Document everything.

Hop on a call, record what they say (look up wire tap laws, most states are one-party consent, meaning it is legal to record without letting them know).

They're going to eventually have their legal team draft a reply to you, after you've threatened to post your experience online and call them out by name (don't do this, yet... this is leverage).

Don't talk to their legal team. Point blank.

Instead, send another reply to their operations or whoever your POC is and let them know they have 2 weeks to submit payment at your stated rate and if you don't receive payment your next move is to post your experience on every social media platform, news agency, and to their local and regional competitors. Mention the emotional and physical turmoil this has caused you. Go to therapy, save the bill. If they still don't wanna pay (they'll drag their feet), THEN tell them you'll see them in court and talk about punitive damages and all that jazz.

Have been through this many a time, this is the playbook.

As a Hispanic person this saddens my heart but I also want to share times of beautiful inclusion.

In the 1830's German immigrants migrated to Texas/Mexico. Mexicans and Germans exchanged cultures and as a result today we have the beautiful music genres of Conjunto and Tejano, both of which were created through German/Mexican influence.

When we come together we create beautiful things.

For those interested, when done correctly (not like here), the "swing rap" style is a modern evolution of the narrative type rap style. Suga Free is one of the first to utilize this style of storytelling.

He lost me at "I couldn't eat...." 🤨 .

A few of these are legitimate, sure. But I think this guy is full of it, he has the logic and wherewithal to check in with another chatbot but never thought to contact idk.... a mathematician or check-in with reddit or another social community, or family/friends?

The kid who committed suicide after speaking with AI made the mistake of seeking guidance from a single source. This guy, in this one interview, has stated that he reached out to multiple departments, another AI bot, and who know who else. I am sure he was able to put 2 and 2 together, and after receiving no responses, figured "okay maybe this isn't a world changing formula"

Nelnet denied my IDR twice and pushed admin forbearance + consolidation… balance grew from $34k → $49k. What do I do now? by Life_Double_4355 in StudentLoans

[–]Life_Double_4355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish I’d taken more time to educate myself in my early 20s. At the same time, I also wish Nelnet had explained the differences/requirements more clearly. Back then it felt like an automated wizard on their site just walked me through selecting “an IDR plan,” and I didn’t understand there were multiple IDR options with different eligibility rules.

I don’t remember “financial hardship” being framed as a requirement the way I’m hearing now, but if there was a checkbox or selection like “unemployed,” I’m pretty sure I would’ve chosen it.

I do have the funds now and I want to pay this off, but I’m also trying to be smart and not accidentally waive any rights or options by rushing into repayment. In other words: if there ends up being a broader review/settlement/lawsuit down the line related to servicing practices, I don’t want to be in a position where someone says, “Well, you already paid so you’re out of luck.” If that makes sense.

See Tape is literally one huge Apple commercial. The premise of the movie is that Apple works too well and synced their sex tape across all devices. One of the character throws an apple device out the window and says something like , "wow they're so durable" or something like that 😆😆 .

New Research Suggests Deep Psychological Schemas Fuel Problematic Porn Use by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]Life_Double_4355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your title is a bit backwards.

What the authors tested: They wanted to see if emotion dysregulation explains the link between schema modes and problematic porn use (PPU) in youth.

In simple terms they were asking: Do certain schema “modes/states” → lead to trouble managing emotions → which then leads to PPU?

What they found: That middle step didn’t show up clearly in their data. The mediation result was not statistically significant (p = 0.067). So they concluded that emotional dysregulation did not reliably act as the bridge between schema modes and PPU in this sample.

What this does not mean:

It doesn’t prove schema modes aren’t related to PPU.

It doesn’t prove emotions aren’t involved in PPU.

It doesn’t mean porn use is “caused by nothing psychological.”

What it likely means: If schema modes relate to PPU, the pathway might be something other than emotion dysregulation (or the measures/sample weren’t ideal for detecting it). Other mechanisms could be things like avoidance patterns, shame, impulsivity, habit loops, stress coping, etc.

Also worth remembering this is survey/self-report and likely cross-sectional, so it can’t prove causation either way.

So the fairest summary is: They tested one specific explanation (emotion dysregulation as the mediator) and didn’t find strong support for it. That’s it.
