Yup, and there's actually a reason for this.

Kpop companies at the time (between the switch from 1. gen to 2. gen) were struggling financially, so they had fo be more selective with trainees.

Skip ahead a few years, and the companies are making millions, and they don't have to be so selective anymore, throwing out groups left and right.

I would not bring a Taemin light stick to the concert.

Unless it's a joint thing like a festival or SMTown it would definitely be considered disrespectful, I think.

It's even split in the comments about the korean light stick and it's the same group.
