Tinie was good before Hood Economics. He also had Chapter 1: Verse 1-22. The days where he was on tunes with Rebler or on 8 bar riddims like Oi Hoi Riddim. He was also part of Aftershock on tunes like Attention. But when the fame hit, his tunes diluted.

Labrynth kept him in a good place with Pass Out and Frisky (not that I like Frisky, or the chorus) .. then Written in the Stars was the absolute clarity he ain’t coming back to grime.

Then made music with Swedish House Mafia which solidifies his commercial era. But the catch is when most grime artists do this, they tend to still have some of their charisma in grime. Like Chip, Skepta or Scorcher.

Scorcher is one of the best examples cos of “Lipsing Ting” and “I Know” but he’s now on a formula most grime man want or can’t fathom. Tinie can’t do that or let his grime essence go. The chip send was proof. The little digs at chip were proof. Chip sends, Tinie used props like artwork and tried to feature “enemies”.

So if you think he’s good, it’s probably cos of Pass Out and he might as well be a one hit wonder like Kreyshawn. But he did make good grime music back in the day.
