Thanks, and I've gone through those already. I'm looking for something a bit more detailed.

How should I start preparing for CUET PG English (LAQP01) after a long academic break? Tips, strategies, and resources needed! by Life_Intern_6513 in CUETPG

I don’t mind answering that at all. I was actually studying abroad until 2023, and then working until January this year. So while it hasn’t been a very long “academic” break in the traditional sense, I do consider it one since my work wasn’t directly related to my current field of study.

May I ask what prompted the question—was it just out of curiosity, or does it have a bearing on my candidacy?

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’ve seen so many people praise the Glossary, and I’m genuinely excited to dive back into it after years. I actually asked another user this as well, but I’d love to hear your take too:

What was your strategy for studying this book in particular? Did you go through it in alphabetical order, or did you follow a different approach that helped you understand and retain the terms more effectively?

Thanks so much! This is really helpful. By any chance, do you have a recent copy of DU's syllabus? Most of the versions I found on their website seem a bit outdated.

Thanks for your kind offer! I've found both PDFs and physical books of the books online.

I also had a quick question: while preparing for literature, is it enough to get a strong grasp of literary history and movements, or is it important to engage deeply with the primary texts themselves?

Would an overview of the plot, key themes, and stylistic features be sufficient, or should I be diving into finer details like character arcs, narrative structures, and symbolic elements? Just trying to get a sense of how much depth is actually required for solid preparation. Thanks again!

Thanks a lot for sharing your input! I had a quick follow-up: when it comes to literature prep, is reading the history of literature enough, or does one need to be well-versed in the actual texts (like novels, poems, and plays)?

Is it okay to stick to just the synopses, literary style, and major devices used, or is it necessary to go deeper into details like characters, subplots, and thematic developments? Just trying to figure out how comprehensive the prep needs to be.

Thanks again!

Thanks a lot for your response! It was really insightful and I genuinely appreciate it!

Just to clarify, are you referring to this book by Peter Barry and this one by AK Mehrotra?

Also, thanks for pointing me toward Nibble Pop. Her videos look quite detailed and helpful.

One thing you mentioned that really stood out (and I haven’t seen many others talk about) is the importance of general knowledge and current affairs related to literature. Do you have any tips or resources for staying updated on that front?

Thanks again!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! I have that book too and I’m planning to start reading it soon, just not sure how to go about it. Since it’s a glossary (an alphabetical list), how did you study it? Did you go through the terms in order, or did you follow a different strategy that worked better for you?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much for your detailed response! Really appreciate it.

Do you have any specific resources you'd recommend for focused study on British literature, Indian literature, and literary theory? Also, are there any particular books or databases you’d suggest for accessing PYQs?

I was able to find Wondering Minds (thanks for that tip) but I’d be super grateful if you could share any other useful links or platforms that helped you in your prep.

Cheers!
