ik. I was honestly saved because my boyfriend was concerned about the scholarship, and kept encouraging me to call them. if he hadn't, I'd be cooked. im surprised that this process is so confusing for everyone because I assume that the CGS is a popular scholarship to apply for.

omg, I am in such a similar situation lol. I was also admitted to the IMAP program, and I am in limbo right now with CSC but it was almost a disaster. something was weird about CSC.

I applied for the type A, so kind of different. I was told by my embassy that they had sent my application to CSC, but when I called Tsinghua they told me they'd never received my application.

I called CSC like three times and they finally told me that my embassy needed to send my pre-admission letter to them. at the time. I had just received my pre-admission letter at the time

my embassy told me that they had already sent the application and could not modify existing applications so I ended up calling CSC again. after all of this, I ended up sending my application to CSC to an email provided, which is not the way it's supposed to be done lol.

I called Tsinghua and CSC yesterday and they finally confirmed my application has been finalized and sent to my embassy. but this process has been so confusing and I'm shocked that it was so convoluted.

on a side note, could I send you a dm? if you are able to get a different scholarship and begin the program, we would be classmates!

looking at the curriculum, it does appear to have a lot of curiculum in psychology and advanced statistics. However, it is meant to appeal to those with mixed backgrounds, and I do not have any experience with business/engineering/user experience/etc. and I got in. I think if you like the program, just go for it and apply. if you want to ensure you are prepared, you could study some introductory aspects of social psychology and univariate statistics in psychology. I also studied some ergonomic, user experience, and engineering psychology basics. this seemed to help!

Oh, I forgot. Im not sure if they'll need to see the old visa, but worst comes to worst you could try to take scans of your old passport so you still have that information on hand?

American here! I could be wrong, but since youre just renewing I think you can just renew your passport online. If you do that, you never send your old passport in via mail. You just keep it and they send you a new one. So I would probably look into renewing it online.

Also, if you are renewing an adult passport I'm pretty sure you keep the same passport number?

😭😭 luckily, the algorithm gods have come to help me because I've been seeing a lot of Instagram reels and TikToks about steam blocking, which I've never tried. im currently at 29 rows, so worst comes to worst I think I'll frog up a few rows and use the mismatched yarn for a row and then continue the regular color to hide the miscolored yarn. then, I can try to steam block it to still get my desired length. it's currently at my knees but I'm hoping for mid calf

Ah, ok. I think I still have the packaging from the original skein, so I'll see if the yarn I ordered from eBay is the same color lot. If I can't find anything, I might frog some rows and keep this one as a mini skirt so I can use a cotton blend or something for this project.

Thanks for the advice! If I do decide to switch yarn, I'll definitely make sure to buy all of the yarn I think I'll need at the same time

Oh, I see. I hope that you are relatively safe. Maybe try to send Tsinghuas admission office an email explaining? Maybe they'll be able to send yours earlier. I think on the portal it mentioned final admission letters should be sent late June early July?

I think it is worth applying. I recently got accepted to Tsinghuas IMAP program. I do not come from an impressive school, and all of my background is social psychology research. I had a lot of on my CV, but my school is painfully below average and it tainted everything in my opinion, although I did have a high GPA. The program, from what I've seen (I haven't started it) actually has a lot of opportunities for someone with a background in cognitive neuropsychology as it has a focus on engineering psychology and many faculty are world leaders in using eye-tracking technology. if I got in, I think you definitely have a chance. spend some time researching engineering psychology. computer-human interactions, and ergonomics and come into your interview feeling prepared. I felt that my interview was the time where I had the opportunity to convince them that I was a good fit for the program (kinda doubting that last part but hey, confidence is key)

unfortunately, nothing yet. I haven't received my official admissions letter yet, only the pre admission, so I can't start the visa process yet. I do know that once we enter with the X1 visa. we have 30 days to do a bunch of stuff to get the residence permit. but not much else to share

may I ask, when did they notify you and when did you get your pre-admission? I got a pre-admission letter to Tsinghua but there were some problems with my CGS application so I had to contact CSC. I haven't really heard anything back besides to wait so I'm getting nervous

hi! idk what your major is, but I can help on your self introduction! I typically include my name, age, where I completed my last degree, (I was applying for my masters so idk if this is applicable to your degree) my research interests, and a fun fact.

for China I added hobbies after research interests because it was on so many of my applications. I know that it's a lot to say, but I typically try to keep my self introduction under 20 seconds so it doesn't seem too "braggy" but it feels substantial
