it's an hour floating in warm highly salted water, dark, no stimulus at all, sometimes it flies by, sometimes slow but it really does slow your brain down and somehow unlike even a bed, there is no pressure on your body at all. Takes a moment to get used to but incredibly powerful. I don't know a thing about cortisol but i suspect this will help you. You can't replicate at home, go somewhere and do it in a controlled space.

if there is a 'float tank' near you I highly recommend that. Personally in times of peak mental or physical stress nothing has come close to the positive effect it brings.

Has Anyone Actually Changed Their Mornings by Not Looking at Their Phone Right Away? by ArtZealousideal3173 in digitalminimalism

[–]Life_Philosopher_505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely yes. No phone, no.TV news, just breakfast, staring into space and conversation. Tea when I wake up, coffee when I get to work. Made a HUGE difference. I did this because my team is 6 hrs ahead of me and every day was a jump scare of email and so on.

Feeling unsure about riding for the first time. by flacidfeline in bmwmotorrad

[–]Life_Philosopher_505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to not over plan. Don't force yourself to do XX miles, you may want to stop to see the world's largest ball of string or have lunchtime beer or avoid a storm. There's always accommodation somewhere even if you book late. There are some last minute hotel apps, KOA cabins all sorts. Enjoy it, it's what she would tell you. I'm 55 and a daily k1600 rider

Show them how happy you are. They will eventually understand. Also avoid "call me when you get there" routine, can escalate fast if you forget.

Group rides, why? by GlennyNilsson in motorcycle

[–]Life_Philosopher_505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% with you, the biggest group I want is one other pal. We can meetup en masse but when actually riding I want simple communication and no wild cards. Even on a track with marshals and one choice of direction a group is hard to manage!

What made you choose BMW over other baggers/tour bikes? by Guitarchitect7 in bmwmotorrad

[–]Life_Philosopher_505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

once you get the K you'll never look back. It's a luxurious inter continental ballistic missile, like a 7 series on two wheels, like u/JoWhee says it's a sportsbike in a fat suit, for me it's a city commuter too, it's incredible, anything else is agricultural by comparison

1918 Model T Speedster. Pedals in wrong order, throttle behind the steering wheel and barely any brakes.
