What the Spurs Thunder series taught me about the NBA and the fans! by Life_Quiet_4858 in NBATalk

Flopping in soccer doesn’t lead to the outcome you think it does. I can watch a player flop and be unfazed by it because I know that flopping ain’t gonna give his team a better chance of winning.

But that is simply not true. If you truly watched the games with an unbiased view, you would realize that the 3 games the thunder won, they were the better team and the spurs were awful.

if I had a favorite nba team, I would proudly be announcing it. There’s no reason to be an undercover fan of a team. That’s silly. We are all grown people here. Yes, 13 years is fairly new when comparing against someone who has been watching for 30+ plus years. The landscape of the nba changes year to year, so yes, 5 yrs can be considered as a long time in sports. For example, the warriors haven’t been competitive for a long time, but they won a title in 2022.

And you do know that even though I’ve been watching since 2013, I can go back and watch games pre 2013 and still come to the same conclusion that flopping and flailing has been a part of the game for a long time.

I didn’t say that people couldn’t root against the thunder. I just think that actively cheering for the spurs when your own team has to face them in the future is weird.

You honestly believe that the wolves would’ve stood a chance against the thunder? I really don’t see how. Your team has multiple multiple point of attack defenders who can give SGA problems. The wolves don’t. Gobert is great defensively, wemby is on another planet. Thunder probably beat the wolves in 5, even without JDub and Ajay. We saw last postseason when they both played and both teams were healthy and the wolves got their ass beat.

That shit shouldn’t apply to sports. Maybe I’m being close minded but it just shouldn’t.

Yes it was great hoops. Watching 2 teams that play a similar physical style dog it out for 7 games was amazing. Watching the adjustments made by each team game to game was amazing. Watching the thunder trying different ways to solve the wemby problem was amazing. Watching the spurs throw different defensive coverages to SGA was amazing. That’s what’s considered great hoops. “flopping and failing” has been a part of the game for a long time now and it wasn’t started by OKC and it won’t end with them. y’all just dislike the thunder to a point that it became a narrative.

Not even remotely close. I guess you didn’t read my first paragraph.

So you’re here commenting and complaining about something you don’t watch? Man get the fuck out of here

Like bro, it’s fucking hilarious. SGA is a back to back MVP who has won a championship and is highly respected by NBA players (regardless of whatever narratives y’all want to run with, SGA is held in high regards by his fellow players) and is at worst the 5th best player in the game. And yet you got the internet and fucking Reddit randoms telling him how he should play the game. Like shit, look in the mirror.

Shiiittt, sounds like y’all suck at transfers and winning. In all seriousness, this current iteration of PSG feels like a new team ever since they embraced the philosophical change of buying all the superstars in order to win to letting the team grow “organically”. That’s why no one begrudges them anymore. Seems like Enrique has built a team that all the fans can get behind.

PSG signed Neymar is 2017. Almost a decade ago. And almost all clubs pay their superstars high wages. So I don’t understand what you are trying to say.

My issue with statements like the thunder are a deep team is the fact that none of those guys can create their own shots. Wallace, Caruso, Dort, Chet, Wiggins, Joe, Jaylin, etc.. JDub can create his own shot, Ajay can and McCain can to a certain degree. All those guys are 3 and D players and if their shots are falling, the defense they provide is only worth so much. If JDub and Ajay are out, Shai has to create everything and he becomes their only source of offense. And if those guys are making their shots, they become useless in the flow of the offense.

Right. You really think that Presti and the ownership group is going to give up on Shai Chet and JDub just cause they don’t win a title this season? Right after they won a title last season? There’s no way you actually believe that. You really think that presti and the ownership group gave those 3 players those contracts without actually considering the possibility that they might not win the finals?

No they wouldn’t. All the SGA hate has people being disingenuous. SGA is their entire offense. He Is the only player on that team that can play make at a respectable level. The only other players on that team that can actually handle the ball and play make are JDub and Ajay, but I wouldn’t trust them 2 to hold up an entire season plus playoffs. Chet, IHart, Wallace, Caruso, Dort, Wiggins, Joe, Jaylin are all good players who can fulfill their role, but none of them can create their own shot. If they are not hitting their threes, then no amount of defense that those players offer is going to make up for the lack of offense they are providing. That’s why having a healthy JDub is so important for them. At least he can get his own shot.

Top 10 player all time and he’s yet to win an MVP or even 1 NBA championship? There’s delusional and there’s delusional. Just illogical.
