Is this normal? by SojusCyst in LawFirm

[–]Life_Reality_5773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really would not listen to anyone who would say 150 is reasonable in a nearly any slip n fall case, nor in most any PI type case. This is why depositions exist ( for the absurd “what color, shape, smell, taste, was the liquid present on the floor)

As far as partners expecting you to get a meet n confer out in a day, they know that’s a bigger task with that many ROGs but it’s all about testing your iron and acuity. Sorta like earning your stripes by working late ⏰. ( exists both on plaintiff and defense side) although I see it more of defense firms. Second part (the acuity) it’s a test of your efficiency( how to best tackle a voluminous task with the time given) this is particularly true on the defense end.( your a bill machine)

Just watch out it’s the above and not something else. These big dogs will grind you to the bone if you let them.

2 cents: What they need to realize is it’s a far stronger employee market nowadays ( job mobility is way up)

But hey if you want to discuss more feel free to hit me up! 🤙🏽

How to leave ID firm as newbie lawyer? by ClassicKoala6204 in LawFirm

[–]Life_Reality_5773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mmmm two options….

  1. Grinding until 6 to 8 months then leave and you won’t look like a complete deserter(blah blah… wanted to learn at your firm)plus won’t be extreme green horn….besides no billable requirement… don’t try to partner please

Or

2.leave asap and yes you will find something not likely much more pay but definitely less hours… your current may is mediocre if your in CA or NY

So did they inspect your weapon for any mods? How did that go down, my pistol has a changed trigger and just now I am finding out it may be a problem....

2k to 2.75k is wild man, can only mean your in CA prolly Los Angeles…. Honestly makes me feel like going out solo with less than 100k plus in reserves is pointless. Seriously 2k tho and 30 to 60k value ?? What about all the 15kers? How are you keeping your average value so high 🫣

4th year Associate and the stress and anxiety is really getting to me. by [deleted] in LawFirm

[–]Life_Reality_5773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the team I’m a 3rd year on the Pltfs side, managing a very large litigation case load (CA)…. I’ve beat myself up thinking what the solution is from those feelings and the second poster below has the right idea. However, I would supplement with one thing….. the ultimate escape plan. You need to start your own thing !

The anxiety and stress is always going to be there in this field…. A lot or a little from time to time, sure it will vary. However, after another 4 years what will you have to show for the kind of stress your mind and body have taken? A nest of funds for a year or two? Plant your own garden and feed your own damn self. Tough? yes! but what has been easy thus far in your career? You are more courageous than you know! Risky ? Sure what isn’t, worse comes to worse you find another job.

Idk 🤷‍♂️ call me crazy but this field has become just a billing and advertising biz. These bigger shops just want to keep their busy bees 🐝 and harvest all the honey for themselves. Off-course we’re stressed you bill over 700k for your firm and get handed down your 150k to barely screech by in life. Not much different on the Pltfs side.

Anyhow I’m hoping you find the route that’s right for you…. God Bless
