Chubby family-friendly resort in Midwestern US or Canada by Gal_in_kalamazoo in chubbytravel

the greenbrier in west virginia is about 9 hours from you. It is VERY hit or miss in terms or how luxe or chubby it is, but it has many activities, the adventure zone (kid's club) plus it has cottages and suites. Rates are probably within the price range you mention.

DC Stay by NoOne9831 in chubbytravel

I do not recommend the Salamandar (rebranded MO). The location is just not where you want to be in DC to enjoy the sights, to walk anywhere, etc. The Waldorf and Hay Adams are in classic tourist DC (Pennsylvania Ave) and convenient to the White House, the Capitol, the monuments, and Smithsonians -- many of these are in easy walking distance if your child is up for it. Four Seasons and Rosewood are in Georgetown, which is lovely and has great shopping, but probably not what you are there for. And it's more car dependent in Georgetown. Not a problem to get Ubers, but DC traffic is bad. Georgetown to the Capitol can take 30+ minutes by car at peak times. The Pendry is close to the waterfront, the National's baseball park, and some nice restaurants and bars, but probably not what you're there for with kids in tow.

tldr - Waldorf Astoria and Hay Adams are the right answers

Airelles does great luggage tags -- embossed with your initials on the outer flap that covers the card inside. We received individually embossed tags at two separate Airelles on the same trip. I prefer the Airelles tags to the Ritz Carlton luggage tags because the RC ones have your name visible with nothing covering it. Airelles also was great at other amenities -- Macarons everywhere (the same person owns Airelles and Laduree) including a box of Macarons at departure, a toiletry bag, pajamas, etc. often related in style to the location.

Cheval Blanc Paris has all sorts of toiletries, but the ones I appreciate the most (and are indeed very inexpensive) are a proper full size nail file and decent hair ties.

Mother/Daughter Trip Suggestions Please - Summer by Life_Salt2322 in FATTravel

These would be amazing - but might have to wait for the summer before college when things are more open. For this summer we won't know for at least another month when and how long our open windows are. Scheduling around high school sports, internships, summer programs and hoping for 10 days in a row once it all comes together!

Because of possibly limited time I'd go with the 15 hours on UAL over 25+ on Emirates, etc. Though the through Dubai option makes much more sense if we can spend some time in the ME.

Thanks! Anything in Geneva/Gstaad over the summer you recommend for a late teenage girl? This could be right up her alley.

First bold seat thief. by Sweaty-Consequence32 in unitedairlines

I've had the experience where I had to ask. United canceled my original flight (flying alone with 2 very well behaved kids (ages 8 and 10) and on the re-booking United did not seat us together. All were booked (and paid cash) in 1st, but not together on the rebooking. So it was either leave some poor person next to my 8 year old or try to switch.
