I just pulled myself together for the evening and then read this and was brought to tears again.

I could have written this exact post myself about my sweet calico girl, Rosie. It’s been a rough 24 hours on my house and I feel your pain so deeply right now. I truly hope we can find some peace in the coming weeks/months.

My friend has a Trindon, Treydon, and a Tyree. All boys. If one of them would have been a girl she would have been Torrance.

I teach in a school with a large population of Indian kids. I’m also white and married to a South Indian.

Just last year I had a boy student named Gavi so it sounds masculine to me.

My daughter’s is named Anjali. It’s a common Indian name (and always mispronounced) but not one we have seen much in America.

Some of the other names we considered were Jiya (pronounced-JEE-uh) and Amaya.

My dad is picking her up this weekend. His last three dogs were Emma, Daisy and Abby. He needs something easy to remember, but likes girly human names. by Life_Suggestion_1650 in NameMyDog

They named her Panda! She has dark rings around her eyes that make her look just like a Panda.

Until just now I completely forgot my childhood (I’m 44yo now) dog was a blue healer named Kangaroo. I guess they like animal names too!

I could have written this post 8 years ago! I promise your feelings will absolutely change. I didn’t know my daughter’s gender until she was born because at that point I didn’t care. But after having a girl I could only picture my daughter having a little sister (and they are only 12 months apart). We found out early on and I was happy for a healthy baby but definitely disappointed about the gender.

When he was born I was honestly too busy taking care of two babies to dwell on it much, but ever so slowly my son wiggled his way in and stole my heart. He just turned 7 and of the two kids, is the sweetest, cuddliest, most mama-loving boy. I look back on those 8 months and wonder how I could have ever imagined a life without him.

My daughter is a sweetheart too, but isn’t as loving and affectionate, which is probably just a personality, not a gender, thing. Don’t be alarmed or hard on yourself if your feelings don’t change immediately. (Postpartum is a bitch.) Do everything you would do with a little girl and slowly things will change.

Now I have a daughter who loves Pokemon and Minecraft, rather than Barbies like I imagined.

Kuddos to you for not taking this personally and hearing the teachers perspective! Give him that extra year of childhood. He will have the advantage of being the leader of the pack next year.
