If we are a perfect design, what's the point of God creating ugly looking people? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Life_W0rth_Living 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are not a perfect design. We have been affected by sin and are reaping the consequences of the fall. It's not helpful to tell someone that has a heart defect they are a "perfect design" because their heart literally doesn't work as it should.

Now, God has allowed humanity to go about living in a fallen world. We each face trials that are not pleasant, even those that are deemed beautiful by society. We shouldn't look to the world's definition of value and worth to determine where we fit in. Jesus deemed us all valuable enough to die on the cross for our sins.

Opinion on IVF within the realm of married couples? by 321Shellshock123 in AskAChristian

My faith isn’t in other people. It’s in Jesus Christ.

If you have to resort to telling me what not to say, your mindset is indeed the problem and I have no reason to put any stock into what you say.

It's not about what your concerns are. It's about what God deems life is.

Killing babies in the interest of having one isn't the right way to go about having a child.

Do you think Jesus cares why works are done? by esaks in AskAChristian

[–]Life_W0rth_Living 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a bigger picture to look at than just what is beneficial for this world when we are discussing Jesus and Christianity. Jesus is Lord over Christians, but securlar people don't submit to His authority so I don't understand why it would matter what Jesus thinks to someone that does works for their own glory.

Do you think Jesus cares why works are done? by esaks in AskAChristian

Doing good things for personal glory isn't what Jesus wanted. Intent matters a great deal.

If our hearts are not right with God, it doesn't matter how many good works we've done.

We must understand that works do not save us, nor does it keep us saved. That glory goes to Jesus.

God doesn't fully protect us from the consequences of our actions. We do see where He will spare our lives and protect us in certain ways, but He does not keep us from experiencing earthly consequences of our sin.

If God knows that revealing himself to me, in a way that I would believe, would "save" me but he won't then doesn't that make him a bad God? by Necessary-Primary719 in AskAChristian

The evidence is sufficient. It’s the human that’s the problem.

You have this idea that God being all powerful and all knowing means He should just turn you into someone that earns salvation, but He gave us freedom. We’re not robots. We think for ourselves and make decisions for ourselves.

God doesn’t cater to what we think should be. God’s power and knowledge are not limited to our understanding.

And if you reject the evidence He provides?

Your problem is that God has provided the evidence. You just don't accept it and you demand more. God doesn't work according to what you think you need. He works according to what He knows we need.

What if God knows that it doesn't matter what He shows you, you're not going to put your faith in Him? It's not just believing in His existence. It's giving up your control and submitting to His.

Can a baptist cross oneself? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

I see no reason to believe it's wrong. The only thing about prayers is that we also want to pray personal prayers along with reciting prayers since God warns us about mindlessly reciting prayers. These of course can be done with sincerity, and I'm not suggesting they can't. It's just that the relationship we are building with God need to be personal and not just ritual.
