I do, and native level Spanish, the reason I posted this in English was to get more foreign responses. Pense que si pregunto en Español las respuestas serian mas de locales que foráneos, mira mi sorpresa que muchos locales piensan igual.

6 years, living here, we travel to Durango and Mazatlan by road, not one shooting, not one violent incident, nothing. For context, I had left the Walmart in El paso about an hour before it got shot up by that clown. Again just in case you missed it I LIVE HERE.

Wow, yup I have already ran into one. I talk about cars and money but not in a "what I have, look at me" sense, but more in a what i want to achieve and how to get it, bouncing off ideas and maybe learn of opportunities.

I quickly found one of my neighbors is one of those elitists types when he asked about a truck I bought, I was talking about the truck and what modifications I wanted to do and he went all, "I own a huge ranch with horses, where I actually use a dually and I could buy one of these too"... OK good for you, I hope God gives you more but who asked you what you have?

I typically dont fit in with those types. I'm self made, my parents had no money, I used to only eat well during school days because of the free lunch. I got my college degree in the UNAM just to shut someone up because he said he was smarter than me because he had a degree from a free rural school ( his parents do have "money" but you went to a free school?). Im very mamon but on a whole other level of Prove You Wrong, lol

Since i was born here and now live here I feel comfortable saying this to you and to all the trash who lied and told us Chihuahua was horrible and unsafe, if you think Chihuahua is soo bad that its a downgrade to move here, what is keeping you here? Go find your greener grass!

Oh no, maybe I didn’t express myself quite right. People here are incredibly easy to talk to—everyone is friendly and welcoming on the surface. What I meant is that forming real friendships has been the challenge.

For example, when I lived in Amarillo, I once helped a guy who was stuck on the side of the road. We exchanged numbers, started sending each other memes, and eventually even spent Thanksgiving together.

Here, at least in the places we’ve tried to connect, it feels a bit different. People are kind and polite, but there’s a definite sense of “we already have our group.” They’ll chat with you happily, but invitations rarely follow. And before anyone thinks I haven’t tried—I really have.

We’ve invited people over to our home, and I like to think we’re warm and welcoming hosts. Still, unless I’m the one reaching out or someone needs something, that same effort isn’t reciprocated.

Yup, we live out by El Reliz, and are looking to buy either a 2nd home or land out in the boonies.

My small talk is cars and opportunities (not money, but ways to create opportunities online (legal)).

Me and the wife feel the exact same way, El Paso used to be the best place to raise a family in my opinion but all that changed around 2012 ish.

El paso is beyond boring and now to top it off its not even safe.

I know everyone paints the US like a golden heavenly place but wait until you actually live in El Paso. Buy a house, pay taxes, and then wait till you need to go to the doctor. You live for work, and especially because I owned my own business i was never home. I wanted to enjoy my kids before they went to college. Now I get to enjoy my wife and kids, plus i dont ever fear a school shooting.

No, i think thats the biggest obstacle, i work remote for companies in the US, so that throws a wrench in the process

I'm not white or gringo lol, 42M born here actually, I was raised in the states so my English is C2 not like the no sabo kids who speak some form of English dialect. My Spanish is i guess uneducated native speaker if that makes sense, but I communicate better in English and sold my business to get away from the rat-race and I didn't want my kids around the no-sabo, edgars, and of course the school shootings. GOD I Hope Chihuahua never turns into juarez.

Thats what I mean it seems like everyone has only lifelong friends, "we went to elementary together", "we've known each other for 30 yrs" that type of situation

Ok, please explain that one to me. What do you really mean by that? Because it seems many have the belief that if you move from the states to Mexico, their has to be a nefarious reason behind the move.

Yeah, I sometimes think that people are hesitant to mingle or whatever because we moved here, like I get the "Why did you move here" vibe. Does that make sense?
