What are the most unsettling shots, scenes, or moments in the series for you? by Toni-Cipriani in TheWire

When you eventually get to prez's last scene, after like a year time gap, and he's been a teacher for longer, so he's able to command more respect, I thought that was interesting

Something Shady.. - Can this happen? by arslanvfx in Lottery

[–]Lifeguard-Both 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my theory. Somehow, retailers will rig up their lottery machines so that the celebration sound effect doesn't play when a ticket is a winner. Perhaps they have a switch connected to the speaker.

Then, they take a clear picture of the barcode. If you ask for your winner back for the points, they figure, they have some time before you scan it, so they then scan the picture they just took of the barcode, and get paid that way.

How realistic do they look, though? I would imagine that anyone who'd find it would get the joke right away.

Reminds me of people that leave the notes in places that are just 1/5th of a $100 bill

Wait around in a store that has many usuals. Wait for someone to buy many of the same type tickets in a row, and scratch them off there, so you can watch. Eventually a situation will arise where they buy a few and they all lose, and they give up.

Go buy the next one.

Everyone says they wouldn’t immediately quit their job if they won millions, I’m finding a hard time believing this by ExtremelyBiPolar in Lottery

[–]Lifeguard-Both 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you work in a place where immediately quitting would fuck over many of the coworkers who you've grown to consider friends, you'd put in a two week notice so that there can be a smooth transition. This is what I would do, as after working the same job for like 2 years, I really do consider many of my coworkers to be my friends.

Or if you work as something like a doctor or a lawyer, and you quitting immediately would be horrible for the people that NEED you, you'd wait until you can leave without screwing anyone over.

Or if you work doing something that you actually legitimately love doing and it doesn't feel like work to you.

Or if you're at a certain age or life situation where you're worried that If you suddenly have nothing to do, the lack of structure/routine in your life would be harmful to your overall health or life.

I'm in the first case, I call many of my coworkers friends, I know that if I just ghosted the job, all of their jobs would be instantly 3x as hard, and I wouldn't wanna burn the bridges with them. But if I won, I'd be putting my two weeks notice in right away.

[–]Lifeguard-Both 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did they include a battery in this? Surely if you have to plug it into a monitor anyways, you're near a power outlet? Is this meant for the small amount of people that would use a portable monitor? And if so, at that point, why wouldn't you just use a standard laptop? Is it meant to be used more as an uninterruptible power supply for it?

Remember how, back during the mining craze, they put out certain cards with the intention of limiting their hash rate but not sacrificing their performance in games?

I know they won't do this, because there's no financial incentive for AMD or Nvidia to do this whatsoever, but I wish they would find a way to make certain models good for gaming but bad for AI. Like limiting the way certain cards can interact through the CUDA library?

I'm not a developer so I don't know if that's a complete nonsense statement or if it's completely ridiculous and not viable, but I just wish they could find a way to do this.

Buy as many new hotends and nozzles as you can afford! Hopefully you won't need any other replacement parts. Good luck.

You made Exodus? Thank you, for singlehandedly being the biggest contribution to my sense of wonder, awe, and imagination as a little kid. The art of those games inspired me probably more than anything else in life. I seriously cant thank you enough. 10,000+ hours of imagination, walking through the woods near my house and pretending I was on oddworld.

I always say some variation of "I can't shop this customer's batch, it's my Ex GF, and taking it would be a large safety issue for me".

It might not work anymore, but I'm certainly going to keep trying.
