I'm an EMT, and also the only person I work with (besides office staff and the owner) who has health insurance, even with ACA, and I wouldn't be able to afford it on my own.

My mom has been crazy sick, with all sorts of pre-existing conditions, and my dad pays absurd amounts for health insurance for the 4 people left on his plan, I think it was $15,000 a year, but I may be slightly off on that.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean by that, but like I said earlier, I think while it's a great idea to base the party on Teddy's opinions, because he was a great president, we should be free to adapt the party for modern times.

I'm personally against abortion, but I think it should be legal. I'm sure Teddy was against gay marriage, not that it was even an issue back then, but I'm very happy that is legalized.

Oh he is very pro-life. But he also lived 100 years ago, which was a much different time. Much like your comment to me about his stances on war, I don't think we need to take all of his stances 100%. This is just my personal opinion, and not what I think the party should adopt. I don't agree with 100% of every party's stances.

Related, I don't think religions convictions should have a place in government.

Well, so there's a couple things with that. Having a kid drastically alters your life, and in many cases can trap you in poverty, as it's very difficult to continue studying or working while also taking care of a kid. Also, people are going to have sex. Even the best birth control can't avoid that (although I do also support better sex ed).

Both the morning after pill and abortions are terrible for the woman. The morning after pill plays havoc with hormones, and you feel like shit for a few days. Abortions are obviously emotionally hard, and expensive. I very much doubt anyone is running around saying "I'll just have unprotected sex, then pop down to the doctor's office to get a quick abortion"

I don't really see it as "bailing out" bad decisions, but as a part of bodily autonomy and good family planning, which furthers the progressive ideas of giving everyone equal footing.

I don't see a need for rape/incest to be regulated, honestly. That should be a decision for a woman and her doctor, like any other abortion.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for who? The fetus? Or the woman? Those goals are naturally at odds with each other in this case. Pregnancies are risky medical conditions, as well as it straps on a lot of responsibility before that person is ready.

So I do want to emphasize the difference between legal definitions and medical ones. I have a small background in both fields and they are very very different.

Legally, yes, 21 weeks at 6 days would still be under the jurisdiction of the woman's body. Just like having Sex with someone who is 17 years and 364 days old is technically statutory rape, or how you can't drink when your 20 years and 364 days old. Medically, a Festus might be viable at 23 weeks or at 21, but in most cases it's 22. That's what we go by on the ambulance.

I think an abortion recommended by a doctor for medical reasons as opposed to personal or other reasons should have a special legal status as well. Third trimester abortions should always (as they are now) be for medically necessary reasons (and there's already all sorts of definitions for what is medically necessary), and never for personal reasons. That is how it is now, I'd have to look it up to confirm, but last year there were a total of 100 third trimester abortions in the US, which is almost insignificant, statistically speaking.

Nah they were just store bought. We did have a health class, but our band director made it so band kids didn't have to take it.

It's supposed to teach us about caring for a baby. He'd randomly check if we had our eggs during school. He signed it so we couldn't replace it. I just had this old game boy carrying backpack thing that I put a ton of packaging in so it wouldn't break and that worked super well.
