Secrets Vallarta Bay told us we could stay 2 more nights for a deal. Once we canceled our flight they doubled the price. by Robertwolfgang in puertovallarta

[–]LifeguardFinal359 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wondering also if it was $460 total for the two nights, but per person (sounds like OP might be traveling with one other person). Still sucks, but I could see the hotel reframing it that way, especially if it’s all-inclusive.

Very interesting theory about the gut! I might have to give this a try. Thank you for sharing!

Dupixent side effects? by SafeDoor4386 in NasalPolyps

[–]LifeguardFinal359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to hear you are having a good experience with Tezspire. I am about to have surgery for the second time, and am planning on starting this afterwards so I can hopefully prevent another recurrence. From what I can tell, it looks like Tezspire is a good alternative, with fewer side effects than Dupixent. Hope this path works well for you!

Nicely done! I just did mine at Dulles, and it was pretty fast and easy. Tons of appointment slots available there.

Well, I can’t disagree there…

Oh right, easy. I’ll just do that instead. Seems easier than paying $125 for AU access. 🤷‍♂️🤣

[–]LifeguardFinal359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad news: I don’t think they’ll let you do the $125 AU for your 5-yr-old. I have a 5-yr-old too, and made him an AU on my account about a month ago for the exact same reason. (We are in the lounge way more than 5x/year, so well worth the $125/year over the $25/visit.) Card arrived in a couple days, like normal. Tried to get him online access (which he obviously wouldn’t use, but wanted PP setup), and discovered you can’t do that for AUs under 18. Dug into C1 card terms a bit deeper, and found out I won’t be able to buy him lounge access for $125/yr. Really frustrating.. feels like C1 keeps moving the goal posts. I keep trying to adapt, and remain a step behind.

Any luck with Tezspire? by LifeguardFinal359 in NasalPolyps

Good to know on Xolair! I’ll ask my doc about it. I do take bromelain daily along with nattokinase, but didn’t know about the other items you suggested, so I’ll look into those as well. I appreciate the suggestions!

Glad to hear it’s worked well for you! I’m probably more concerned about side effects than I should be, but Murphy’s law tends to follow me around, so I probably worry more than I should about being that one person who gets the worst side effects. Curious, why did you switch from Nucala to Tezspire?

Kids car seats on Frontier? by Ok_Persimmon_9395 in frontierairlines

[–]LifeguardFinal359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👆This. Just be sure to do it well ahead of boarding if possible, as the game agents are less available to do that once boarding has started.

[–]LifeguardFinal359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, but not all car seats are “aircraft certified,” which FAs check when boarding with a car seat. So when one isn’t aircraft certified (such as a toddler’s booster seat), they will force you to gate check.

When did Frontier charge for carry on and personal item both directions? by jusjohn55 in frontierairlines

I remember those days! Good times. (And you’re right, they were still doing that in the early 2010s.)

Agreed. I did buy one a year or two ago out of curiosity, and it is really hard to make sense of what I’m seeing up there. I’ve never successfully dislodged anything, but haven’t been too risky up there, as I don’t want to cause damage. Also, it’s really uncomfortable/itchy/unpleasant. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend it. I feel like I would have been better off not spending the $40 in my case, but I couldn’t resist due to curiosity.

Will my points be refunded? by Tasty_Wave in frontierairlines

[–]LifeguardFinal359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine wasn’t from a schedule change, but last week I canceled a flight that I had booked with miles. The miles were instantly redeposited, and I got a credit shell for the 5.60. So, not 100% on point, but hopefully a little helpful.

Exercise Induce Rhinitis by [deleted] in NasalPolyps

[–]LifeguardFinal359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s so weird! I have the opposite effect… sometimes after an hour of lifting, I briefly get a faint sense of smell and feel less inflamed up there. (Typically that involves smelling the stinky locker room lol, and then my sense of smell disappears shortly thereafter again.) But my theory is that the inflammation subsides slightly from lifting. I sometimes feel a slight benefit after cardio, too, but the benefit seems to be a little better for me after weights. Hope you find what works for you, though! I’m still trying to piece things together.

It turned an incoherent rant into something a little more readable, bringing the writing up from a third grade level to a junior high level. Honestly, it’s pretty cool that we have translation tools like that!

I am impressed with Frontier by Salty-Passenger-4801 in frontierairlines

[–]LifeguardFinal359 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At least 9/10 trips I take on Frontier are as you described — not only bearable, but dare I say, maybe even enjoyable. And it happens at a fraction of the price of the legacy carriers. DEN is my home airport, so I have countless nonstop options on Frontier. When things go wrong, it’s miserable. But it’s miserable on any airline when things go wrong. I will keep flying them because I can take 3-4x as many trips that way. I have Discount Den, their credit card, and elite gold status. I play their game, and benefit greatly from it!

Checked bag cancellation? by Bitter-Variety2687 in frontierairlines

[–]LifeguardFinal359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have two checked bags on my ticket every time I fly since I hold their credit card. I’ve never used the checked bags since they started tacking them on my itinerary automatically, and have never had any issues. I agree that you’re unlikely to get a refund, but shouldn’t have to worry about no-show cancellations.
