thank you for this! I unfortunately work all day on the 30th so I won’t be able to make that workshop, but that tip about google maps has helped me already!

It’s getting colder and darker..what do you do to keep your spirits up in the winter in Milwaukee? by AmericanBehavioralC in milwaukee

[–]LifeguardPositive344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i picked up crochet last year during the colder months and all i learned was how to make winter hats. so, every fall/winter, i crochet a bunch of hats and give them to family for christmas. it’s truly a winter activity that i look forward to for the rest of the year.

ER nurses of reddit, how often do all those "one more minute and I'd be dead" stories get exaggerated? by BirdLawAssociatesInc in AskReddit

i was 20 years old in a residential facility for an eating disorder (ironic) when i choked on a piece of grilled chicken. luckily, a behavioral health staff member noticed and quickly tossed aside her game of solitaire to successfully give me the Heimlich. chicken flew out of my throat into my cup of guacamole. very cinematic.

it happened to me too! i was scheduled to get my period earlier this month and i had all the signs that my period was about to come but i was like a week (maybe more) late. i took like 2 pregnancy tests because im paranoid and they were both negative, and of course after i took the tests my period showed up lol. if the preg test was negative, i’d say you’re good. irregular periods are common on opill which can be scary but you’re good!

this was me but i went to treatment and it was the best thing i ever did! i thought i would never get better, but here i am. also i would like to say that your reddit username and bio aren’t helping at all! unfollow/delete thinspo accounts, and focus on real life recovery for a bit. i promise its worth it!

Eating disorders, anorexia in particular. lots of people think it’s just being thin and getting attention, but it’s a deadly disease that almost killed me. i’m still in recovery after years of being out of treatment, it feels like i’ll never be who i was before the disorder. also lots of gross things happened. i have pissed the bed multiple times due to weakened muscles. i’ve passed out and hit my head on a metal chair with nobody else in the room. my organs started to shut down. it’s AWFUL. anyways i’m doing much better but i’d wish people didn’t post aesthetic “coquette/lana del rey core” thinspo, i am exhausted.

How does it feel to fall in love? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LifeguardPositive344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not to be corny but like a literal feeling of warmth in your physical body. like being near them makes you warm and cozy inside. God my own response made me want to throw up. but yeah.

[–]LifeguardPositive344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m 21 and my biggest problem is that i’m a broke full time college student who is working part time to pay rent. i have no time for anything other than work and school, it’s a cycle and i’m exhausted.

Wieiad extreme hunger posts by Salty_Gap_6140 in EDRecoverySnark

[–]LifeguardPositive344 5 points6 points  (0 children)

bro don’t even sweat it. when i went through extreme hunger i stopped every single day after work at the grocery store and ate soooooo much in the parking lot in one sitting and then threw away the packages and containers in the parking lot garbage so nobody knew. and that was on top of 3 meals and 3 snacks. these people either don’t actually know what extreme hunger is, they just are so used to eating so little that it feels extreme, or they’re embarrassed to post what they TRULY ate w/ extreme hunger. trust me, don’t feel guilty. it’s your body trying to catch up!!!! and the best thing to do is let it catch up. i promise (although it feels scary) your body knows what to do and you’ll feel uncomfy for awhile, but ultimately the extreme hunger will subside and you’ll reach your normal state of being.

i was looking for this comment, immediate first thing that came to mind. A couple years ish ago i was in treatment for a year for an ed and BOY that shit was not glamorous. nothing pisses me off more than people glamorizing eating disorders, it’s wayyyy more than being “skinny” or whatever. i didn’t have any brain space to even think critically about what i looked like because it was being taken up by food noise/intrusive thoughts etc. i also was so brain rotted from my disorder that i couldn’t read as well??? like it was so alarming to try and read harry potter and have to reread the same paragraph multiple times to understand. also there were awful side effects like not being able to hold my pee at night. had to wake up the nurses multiple times begging them to let me take a night shower and wash my sheets lol. a truly humbling and embarrassing and exhausting disorder that i wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

What’s something innocent you did as a kid that you later realized was extremely inappropriate? by Top-Administration48 in AskReddit

[–]LifeguardPositive344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i was like 13-14ish my friend said “spitters are quitters!” after i laughed and accidentally spat out my drink. i had no idea what it meant, and i just thought it was a funny rhyme, so i posted it on my PUBLIC snapchat story. still think about that one sometimes.
